Dealer b.s. or legitimate excuse? You make the call . . .

So it's been seven weeks since my sun visor melted off.

Took car to dealer in late August and they said they had none in stock, and that the visors were on "back order."

Called today, and they said it could be several more months until I could get one.

When I stated that I knew of some people (from reading posts on here) that drove into their dealers and had their visors replaced in one day, the folks at my dealer basically said that's impossible.

Now, this isn't a critical piece of equipment - but it's the principle of the thing.

So am I right to be enormously peeved about having to wait two-plus months for a new visor?

B.S. - My driver's visor broke and the dealer got it in less than 5 business days. And this was a few weeks ago.

well first please go here http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ and complain about this so we can get mazda to actually fix the problem.

secondly, try other dealers. most dealerships are totalally full of BS. tell them to take on off of a car on their lot to appease you. raise hell call mazda 1-800-222-5500 ask for your regional rep to call you.

I just had that problem. Mine came in last Monday. I get it put on tomorrow when I take my car in for the recall.

Anyway, what I was told by the guy that does the ordering at my dealership, they were on backorder and were due to come off on Sept. 21. Of course, that didn't mean they would necessarily get them in. He said he resubmitted for it before then as a "CS" order, which meant they got first priority.

He also said some dealerships had numerous in stock and if he couldn't get one he would try to get it from another dealership. Well, it came in.

PM me if you want more info.

Most anything my family or I have ordered before comes in very quickly also. This is the first time I've really had to wait for anything.

Yeah. They're the one that had something like 13 in their inventory when no one else was able to get any.

usually bulletin parts do go on back order, they are much better about it nowadays, but 5-6 years ago, a bulletin usually meant the part WOULD go on back order for a couple of months.

we do have 7 drivers side sunvisors in stock, right now....

Yeah. Probably because everyone was ordering them like crazy. LOL

They did go off backorder about a week ago (what I was told), so dealers are probably now starting to get them in again.

Sounds like some serious visor hoarding going on!

I've never had a visor failure in either of our 8's and it gets to 150+ inside the car here.

You figure they would keep them in stock here in the hotter climates...hell my visor has broken 3 times...taken it to different dealers without calling ahead and all three times they were replaced within an hour

Awhile ago mine was replaced only took them a Week to have it delivered to the dealership. Call them up and ask to talk to the Service Manager this is well very sad. I understand about it being on backorder but 7 weeks c'mon! In this time I'm willing to bet you could have gone to another dealer and get it replaced as many have stated "within a hour". Hell I'd suggest you call up a few surrounding dealeres and ask if they have any in stock.

My dealer searched the inventory of surrounding dealerships. No one had any in my area. It appeared to be really hot locations that had them, so I had to wait.

Oh well, it's getting fixed this week.

Thanks for all the replies.

The weird thing is, the guy at the Mazda service area is usually right on top of things and really helpful. I'm hopeful he's just confused or a victim of miscommunication or something. I will call Mazda NA and see if I can get some action.

It's just such a small deal that it doesn't seem worth making a stink over it, but on the other hand, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

BTW I'm 35 and a repeat customer who has spent nearly $80,000 at the dealership on cars for the family over the past 12 years or so, so I should expect decent service.

Try another dealer. There must be another one somewhat close by.

I live in MA so I doubt the New England area is considered a hot local, again I'd suggest he talk to the Service Manager and nicely bitch lol. A month maybe for a part but 7 weeks, that just screams no one gives a fuque.
