Dealer delivery date for first shipment of 06's.
I finally got my situation taken care of with where my car is and whatnot. (Had to track down the sales manager that originally handled my order; was transferred to a different dealership within the auto group). My car is "at port." Delivery date slated for March week 3 for ALL cars currently "at port" in San Diego for the first shipment. Now I guess it is a race between us to see who gets it first that week.

Weren't you assigned a build date yet? I thought so. Add 6-8 weeks to that, per my dealer and according to my current timeline. You might be closer than you think.
I am still pretty sure fourflush is going to beat me. He is closer to the port than I am so his car has a shorter tip to take.

Yep!!! Sometime in March week 3. It was a huge pain trying to figure that out. The dealership I am going through transferred the salesmanager/inventory guy to a different dealership within the group so I have been dealing with Dumber and Dumbest trying to find anything out. I called Saturday and the guy they gave me said it would be at least three more months until it got here, which I didn't think sounded right since I was given a build date of Feb. week 1. I tracked down the original sales manager. He placed some calls and got it taken care of, called me back in less than 5 minutes, and told me of the slated delivery date. He then gave me his personal cell phone number if I had any further questions or problems. According to him it will be the first 2006 RX-8 sold in Oregon!!!!!

I already downloaded the owner's manual from Mazda's website and wrote down all the recommended shifting points and also read up on that new keyless entry/start system. Actually sounds pretty cool and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. Turns out it has little sensor buttons on the doors and trunk that you can push if you have the transmitter on you instead of pushing all the buttons on the remote. It also has a cool autolock feature you can get the dealer to enable so that if you step outside of the transmitter range (2.8 feet) it will automatically lock the doors and enable the alarm within three seconds. This is a good feature in case I turn out to be an airhead.
However, it does recommend consulting a physician before use if you have a pacemaker. Apparently the transmitter can cause pacemaker interference.

I was actually going to print out the owners manual until I discovered it was like 435 pages!!!! I figured I could just read all the most important parts right now and finish up my reading when I got the actual manual with my car.

im sure by the time your car comes, you will have memorized every single word on every single page already, including the legal blurbs. the only other person in the world that can do that is Zoom44 who can also recite every document ever released by mazda.

Yeah. I've been bored since work cut my hours and then I hurt my shoulder so I can't do much in the way of physical activities. I do have another interview lined up soon, though. I can stress about that instead.
