Dealer just called! Touring RX-8s are there!
My dealer just called to let me know that those two RX-8s that are touring the country have arrived at my dealer. He said that they are only showing up at the larger dealers in the area (which would be mine) and would only be there until 9pm.
I'm going there tonight to check it out!
edit: still no vin or any other info about my car! - boooo
edit2: he also told me that many, many people are checking out the car - taking pics and such - no test drives though

Oh guys! I'm sorry! I should have posted my dealer's name in case anyone wants to check them out as well:
Faulkner Mazda
I'm planning on getting there at around 8pm or so (b/c of work). I'll bring my dig camera and take as many pics as possible.
Besides seeing the car in person (finally), I want to check out that trunk and back seat.
edit: the first thing I'll ask will be where they are heading next and/or a list of their next stops.

OK - I just talked to my sales rep.
He said that they will be there until at least 8 - 830pm tonight (which means that I'll have to get up there a little earlier than planned). The guys driving them are staying here in Philly overnight and heading out tomorrow.
WHEW!
Chadr: I don't know who told ya that, but I trust my sales rep - he hasn't steered me wrong yet.

Heh didn't catch the name but somebody in sales there. Oh well just goes to show you that salesmen rarely have a clue as to what they are talking about. Wish I could make it down there to check it out but I don't think that can happen.

Just got back from seeing them.... one word describes my feeling: SWEET!!!!! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to sit inside & ask questions (see below); however, I did get some interesting info. OK - Here's what happened:
I got out of work late, so I hurried to my dealer so as not to lose daylight for my pics. Got there at around 715p. As I parked in the lot, I didn't see the 8s so I figured that they were parked behind the main building. I did a walk around and... NO 8s! I got there BEFORE 830p so I didn't know what was going on. I went inside and talked to my sales rep and he said that they had just left to go to their motel for the night!!!! GRRRR! I was about to get really angry when he told me that the motel they are staying at was right next door to the dealer. He said if I wanted to, I could walk right over and see them - but that these guys were **** about the 8s and that after they were settled in, they'd put the car covers on the 8s for the night. I hurried over and after walking around the motel's parking lot for a bit I finally saw the 8s parked on the opposite side of the building. WOW! A green and a yellow! Whew! B/c I didn't see the Mazda guys anywhere and that I was running out of light (plus the fact that it was very cloudy) I whipped out my camera and took as many pics as I could. A few minutes later, my sales rep joined me and we talked about the cars for a bit and then headed back to the dealer. During my time out there, the drivers never appeared (sleeping?).
My impressions of the car:
1 - NICE!
2 - EVEN NICER than I could have imagined. This is the first time that I've seen one up in person and as I stated before - WOW.
3 - The green was very, very dark. At first, I thought it was black but this might have been b/c of the clouds and the time of day. Yellow is a very, very attractive color up close; looks just like the M6's yellow.
4 - The green was AT & the yellow was MT. Both had nav, no moonroof and cloth seats. For those that are interested, the cloth seats are two toned (just like the pics you've seen before) and have cloth backs. The driver's did not have a pocket in the back, while the passenger side did. The circular air vents were silver - not sure if they were aluminum or painted plastic. For some reason, I never noticed the silver button on the emergency brake before. Both 8's had their alarms activated - I could tell b/c each one had a little red blinking car pic/light in the bottom of the first circular gauge. The yellow's wheels & tires must have been detailed while the green's were very dirty - lol. The yellow front lip/bumper was almost scraping the top the curb - lol. I thought that the tail lights had LEDs all the way across the two strips, but it appears their only on the far left/right side. Also, never noticed the black tubes in the front headlight housing.
Some info I got from my sales rep:
1 - Both cars are being driven for 15k miles - coast to coast - in 2- 3 weeks total time. Mazda wants to test the cars for mileage and other factors.
2 - The drivers are babying the cars. He said he saw them checking the oil and then meticulously adding drops of oil.
3 - Everyone at the dealer were completely shocked when the 8s pulled up - they weren't even sure that they were 8s at first! The drivers arranged the cars in front of the main building for people to see. My guess if you find out that the 8s are at your dealer - get there before the evening if you want to see them b/c the drivers have a schedule to follow, they need to get set up at a hotel/motel and will leave the very next day for their next stop.
4 - My dealer said that their next stop will be Boston/NE (from Philly???). After that they head south to West Virginia and then to the WC. Not sure if they are make stops in-between (but my guess is 'yes' b/c why would they bypass NY?).
Finally, he showed me his most recent inv report and my 8 is still listed as "on order" - GRRR! He (and I) have no idea when my 8 will be here!!!! GRRR! Based on this, I'm guessing that my 8 will be here mid-August now... hopefully - =(
I took 11 megs of pics. Since I don't have the means to host/post them, if someone can help, let me know.
Hope this info helps!

Bob -
Jumpin' Jesus on a pogo stick!!!!!! I wish that I had picked this thread up earlier. I just got home. The motel is next to Faulkner? Maybe I'll take a spin up there and look at the silhouette.
Well anyway, Man, I can't thank you enough!!! I've been trying to get some sense of that yellow I ordered for ages now, and this really sets my mind to ease because I love the yellow on the 6, and this is going to be great!!!!
You don't have a VIN yet? I haven't heard a thing from Mazda about my car either. I wonder what's going on because I've been reading posts from guys who ordered after us, and their cars are built!!!
I think that I need to get onto my dealer and see if he can dredge something up.
Thanks again - H

Haze: it's the Best Western right next door! Good luck! :D
Edit1: When coming southbound, the BW will come up first on your right, then Faulkner.
Edit2: I took pics of them if you don't get to see them tonight or tomorrow morning. Hopefully, some one will host....

Let me know if you'd like bigger versions b/c Digisan kindly offered to host.
Again, they're not that good - you'll see!
edit1: click on my website button at the bottom or use the url in my sig
edit2: I took more pics, but the ones I put up are the best

Although if I only had more time, I could have taken some great pics! If I had gotten there a little sooner, I could have taken pics of the interior and the trunk! Oh well...
I'll be editing it again shortly and will be adding the crappy pics to the third page. Check in a few!
