Dealer wants to swap my engine but extended warranty company has to come and approve?
my dealer said that my engine needs to be swapped but they have to first get it approved by the extended warranty company? What if the EW company decides they think its not the motor but the dealer says otherwise? Anyone ever heard of a case like this? btw im 82K miles on a 04

Even if they do disagree it doesn't change the fact that the dealer says you need a new engine...I suppose they'll offer what they think needs to be fixed and give you an option, you can do what they suggest or pay for the new engine our of your own pocket.
Not really too sure if it would go down like that but that's my best guess. Good luck, hope they agree with the dealership

Well since its not Mazda's Warrenty but a outside source I'd say its a reasonable thing to expect. Though I'm curious as to why you need your engine replaced, if its due to the recall or due to other reasons then I can see them having no problems, now if you where beating the ever living crap out the engine and it blew up then ya might be in for a minor fight with the company. I'd say be nice to the dealer and be following up with the warrenty company to make sure they get out there in a timely fashion and approve the engine replacement.

If it is the Mazda Extended Warranty(known as MAP),then the dealer has to have approval from Mazda before starting.Normally this is given over the phone. If you can document your maintenance there should be no problem.
