Dealer washes my car??
Hi, all...hope this is the right forum to ask but I read somewhere in all of this that the dealer washes the car and furnishes a full tank of gas -- is this only for the engine replacement occurrences or....? Appreciate your response(s) as I'm a new owner of a GORGEOUS RX8 and I want to treat her right!! Thanks!!!

are you talking about washing the car in general?
you do not want the dealer to wash your car. i usually ask them, if my car is ever in for service, not to wash. i wash the car myself.
learn to take care of the car (wash and detail) and spend money on some cleaning supplies is ideal.

With the recall they are partitioned $20 to get your car washed and as part of the "White glove" treatment fill up your tank. I am waiting for my recall letter, but when I do get it done gonna ask them to not wash it, they can give the interior a deal vacuming thats it.

At all the luxury car dealers they wash your car when you take it in for anything. My dad has a Jag and it got a flat so he took it in. They fixed the flat for free and washed his car, giving him a loaner in the meantime. Same goes for Lexus too when my mom takes her car in. But, according to JD Power and Associates, thats #1 and #2 in customer satisfaction... Lexus being #1.

I don't really want anyone washing my car but me. When the body shop washed my car it was one of those "touchless" ones that sprays tons of water and soap all over it. Then they buffed it with some sort of non-wax polish. The buffing guy doesn't so such a good job, though. There were polish "swirls" left on my car. The swirls weren't in the paint but in polish residue that was basically powdery when it dried. I think he probably used too much polish or didn't buff it for long enough.
I will tell them not to wash my car when I go in, also.

DO NOT let them wash your car. detailers call the damage created by the dealers during washing the "special dealership installed appearance package". why? because they want to make money, they dont give a rat *** about your cars appearance or whatever. wash it yourself! (ive seen dealers wash cars with a single old rag that was used on the wheels, tires, etc etc, and brooms!!). the damage that create is crazy!

Yeah, I made that mistake, now my car is covered in like tiny hairline scratches from I'm sure the same thing described above. I was able to buff most of them out, but you can still tell in direct sun. NEVER let the dealer wash your car. It is much more fun and rewarding to do it yourself.

The powderly swirls I had came off when I touched it, so I decided to wash my car and they came off the rest of the way, fortunately. In a few spots places it did take two washing attempts before it was taken care of. Otherwise I was thinking of trying the swirl remover treatment if I couldn't get it out.
