Its horrible having parents that don't know about cars. I could bring it into the dealership on fire. They'd walk up to my parents and say "its normal" and my parents would say "duhhuuhhhh OKAY

MazdaUSA is twisting their arms now, they've told me that I should bring it back in today and go for a test drive with a technician in the car with me so I can show him the problem first hand.
What would you do? Thats an honest question. If you were in my shoes right now, what would you say to them?

As for what "would you do?" well, wait and see what happens. If they still blame you for the issue or say there is no issue, run the shop manager. Ask him if it feels ok or does it feel like there's something wrong. Hit him a couple times so that he can make a well informed decision.

That's because John Hine Mazda is full of douche bags. They probably didn't want to do it because they didn't have any technicians that could replace a taillight well alone an engine.

For you, you just have to man up, Im serious. Those crooks pick on people who looks weak on the outside. Let them know that you know more about the car and the law than ANYBODY who works there and they will ***** out.

I had an issue with a mazda parts saleman at the local mazda dealership when I wanted to get new gaskets for my tail lights to evict the fishbowl. He flat out told me, NO its the tail light not the gasket. I was like WTF?! its the gasket you fool, theres even a TSB about it! I'll just buy it somewhere else, K thankx bye!
So thats what I did. I ordered it online, and what do you know, fishbowl has been evicted. I was out of bumper to bumper so eiter way I was stuck paying for it.

Needless to say my body shop had less than kind things to say about the dealer's parts guy.
FYI, the old red/black panels didn't really need to be replaced and have very minor scratching if anyone wants to buy them when I get my car back Friday.

Dude I had the same problem, when I bought my car I was a minor also. They instantly tried to blame everything on abuse. Its funny, once I started selling cars at the Mazda store where I got my car serviced, they became the nicest people to me and did whatever I asked and didnt say **** about my midpipe and other mods. **Funny how that works.
Go to a different dealer. Ive driven 80 miles each way to go from Iowa City to Burlington to go to a different dealer when my normal dealer was being an ******* (dealers in Iowa are far and inbetween). Its worth the gas and time.

the point is that dealership people will not drive over the speed limit to verify complaints. They are not allowed to because its a)illegal b) unsafe c) their insurance company would drop them in a New York minute putting them out of business.
It doesnt seem right or fair to the car owner but thats the way it is. You are doing the correct step by escalating.

I took it to the dealership today after mazda forced them to come test drive it with me. The technician himself seemed to me to be a perfectly honest, nice guy. The service guy sat in the back seat and rolled his eyes and scoffed at me while the tech and I discussed the problem.
The technician told me he can feel the same heavy pulsation in the shifter that I can but he says he feels it in all of the RX-8s he works on, so it's not anything worrisome. He also gave me his e-mail for me to send him my dyno chart for him to give to whatever technician usually deals with low power dynos.
On the way back to the dealership I made sure to show the ******* in the back seat *exactly* where the problem was in the shifter, and at what MPH and what RPM in what gear...inside I was laughing at him, wide eyed and clutching the oh **** handle for dear life....at 40mph in second.
Anyways, calling mazda was the way to go.

The guy told me i needed to buy a $260 tail light to fix the problem, when I was asking specifically for the gasket, knowing that was the problem along with the fact the gasket I was replacing at the time was TORN!!!! there was a huge rip in it. BUt nope, it was definatly the tail light acording to the parts guy. So I just gave my business to someone else, and instead of spending $260 on a tail light Like I KNEW wasn't the problem, I spent the what $30 for the gasket and shipping? to fix the problem, havn't had the issue since.

F all those Schaumberg dealerships! They are a bunch of morons. Besides, after all of this, do you really want these idiots putting a wrench to your car? It doesn't matter how polite Mazda USA was in relaying your concerns, these vindictive a-holes are now pissed that you circumvented their assessments and **** poor attempts to avoid doing work. Your 4th gear syncro is BAD. Mine is failing, too, on my 2004. It seems to be a fairly common issue.
I know it's not convenient, but make the trip out to Bigger's in Elgin. I live in Crystal Lake with a dealership in the same city, only a few miles away. I make the 20+ mile drive to Biggers because I actually trust them. I have never had anything but good experiences with them. PM me if you need any help. I know what it's like to be in your shoes, especially with the minor thing.

From what I gathered, the reason people don't need to "double-clutch" anymore is because of the synchros, so if they start to fail, can you double-clutch to get the job done?

dealerships like this make the whole Mazda experience what it is... I'm lucky to have 1 semi-decent dealership I can go too within an hours drive..
I have *4* Mazda dealerships within 10 miles of me.. but I take my car to a dealership 30 miles away, in another state, where I have to pay a toll - because they are highly regarded.
