Decent deal?

Been browsing through these forums for a while now trying to learn what I can before I go and purchase an rx-8. I've got a dealer near by that has this one. 2004 RX8 GT with Mazda speed Front Facia Skirting, Rear Under Skirt, Side Skirt, Adustable Mazda Speed Rear Wing Spoiler, Mazda Speed Cat Back Exhaust, Mazda Speed Carbon Fiber Front Strut Bar, Mazda Speed Rear Strut Bar, Mazda Speed Springs, Mazda Speed Front and Rear Shocks, Motegi 18" Racing Wheels. The car only has 6500 miles on it. They are asking $25,000. This seems like a pretty good deal but figured I'd check to see what others thought. The total msrp on the parts they have listed is 9k. Figure around me in OH the 04 GT seems to be going for 20-22k so for another 3-5k I'm getting a lot of extras. Any input would be appriciated.

I got my 04 GT with 14,750 miles, a couple months ago and I paid $18,500..... partly cause I knew the dealer....
But mine is just a plain GT. The only thing mine had was the spare tire option.

Although a couple stuff on that car doesn't do anything for resale, I think you can do a little better than 25,000. Working at a dealership, I can generally say most Used Cars, have around $3,500-$4,000 markup, but don't quote me on that. That's just what I've seen at most of the dealerships I've worked at and been affilliated with.

Oh BTW, banks don't care what extra options (i.e. exhaust, springs...etc...) are on a used car. They will only let you borrow what the car itself is worth. So if book value on the car is only $22,000... that's the amount the bank will lend you. So you're gonna have to man up and put the rest down.

Yechidah,

I second the opinion. You should be trying to get it down to the low $20k ($22-$23k). I've heard that the used 2004's are selling at auctions for $14,000. With such low mileage on a 2004 I'd also be suspicious of it being a buy-back. Spend $24 and get CarFax for 30 days to check out this car and any others you see.

I'm looking to get a new 2006 and have a qoute in the mid $24k after rebates on a touring model.

Too high of an estimate for a 2004. I'd value a 2004 at mid teens.
