Depressing performance numbers

I still don't get why anyone cares what another car can do. If you like the car you have does it really matter what car some else likes? Besides, how fast your car is says more about the car than the driver.

Change your spark plugs, wires and coils if you haven't done that in the last 15-20K. At 18K mi. I gained back 28-30 lost HP. It's still not going to make you feel any better at the track though.

Should have gotten a MS6 or some NOS. Who did you run against on those time slips. They did a number on your ***. Take the GTI out for a spin and beat up on some other cars. Sell that ATX 8 and get a Manual one and boost it.

Car is at the dealer now.. and they agreed that it is slower than normal and are diagnosing ... but I won't have a car till monday...
Took solara out at the track and ran 16 flat. Got pwned by turbo eclipses that did 13.5 and 14.1 sec... All my friends do low 15s and high 14s in their lesser cars.. so I get laughed at a lot.
As far as what is the problem... i have no words yet.. maybe bad coil, bad cat, bad something. GTI is still being babied since it's new... hehe but I got my fast today!
Guess not really a big deal for RX-8 owners

If you want to stand out amongst your friends and have them appreciate your car a little more, talk them into going to a road course for a change instead of the strip. You will gain MUCH more respect. Even in an automatic. They will be coming up with excuses why you were all over their *** in the twisties. Do a NASA event or some other professionally instructed course and then come back and tell us what they say. You should be stepping high.

I've got to say, wow, this forum seems to indicate that RX8 owners as a group are:
-pretty damn juvenile,
-downright nasty at times,
-suffering torque envy.
Do I want to be associated with you guys??!!
Let the flaming commence (er, I mean continue).

What's the quarter mile time for manual RX-8s? I want to test drive one to see if I feel like switching over to manual. It is pretty much set in stone that I won't waste my time taking AUTO RX-8 to the track.
Also, I didn't see single RX-8 at the track... Not even manual ones. I was the sole RX-8 and there were a lot of people out tonight. So I guess even manual RX-8 are not coming out to play. On the other hands, track was infested with SRT-4s... they are multiplying like a virus...
My next adventure was gonna be taking RX-8 to autocrossing... Should I even bother?
Since it's so slow... great handling that RX-8 supposely have probably will not make up for its lack of speed. My commute route doesn't have any twisties either... so never get to take my RX-8 through corners either. I should bring it to twisty mountain roads in south carolina for fun...

First things first. Stock RX-8's especially AT ones were never meant for the drag-strip, they just don't have the torque.
Secondly, YES, take your AT too the autox track. It still won't be as fast as the MT but it will be a lot more enjoyable than having slow 1/4mile times.
If you've ever watched the rx-8 race in a Grand Prix race you will see that they aren't quick off the line. The Acura and usually a couple hondas beat them out to the front. But once they get out on the track they quickly make up lost time and usually come out pretty good. If they don't crash. heh...
