diagnose

Okay, here's a new symptom... arggg... yesterday taking off from a stop, ran through the gears, first gear-got rolling, second gear-ran up to red line, just before red line in third, slight engine hesitation and engine light flashed... flashed about 7 times and went off. It ran fine in regular traffic situations, had a friend drive it around some back roads and it was fine... got back on the expressway and it did it again going up the on-ramp in the same gear position and continued to do so at next traffic light - so I stopped pushing it.
Background... before winter storage, c/e light appeared on the way to storage facility. Dealer diagnosed need coils. Purchased and installed BHR ignition kit and installed by a pro...was starting harder than before so installer suggested switching the leading and trailing plugs for a "hotter start". now this... any thoughts? sound like fue, air, or electrical issue? any input is greatly appreciated.

flashing cel means a misfire, so somewhere in your ignition system (coils plugs and wires) something is wrong or failing.

Well, Seems to be better for now anyway. The code was a misfire, and could have been caused by a foolish move of switching the order of the plugs in hopes of a smoother start-up. Could have been caused by some other part down the line that's going... only time will tell. I just want to go on the record as saying that the BHR product had nothing to do with my trouble. The kit is very well made and well worth every penny (and the wait...) The service and quality behind their product comes from owners who are extremely knowledgeable, own, build, and "live" their renesis engines with passion - a passion only understood by an owner on an RX-8.
