Did I get a free de-carb?

I have a '04 A/T with 36K all up to date on "TSB's" and service. I have noticed that the power was off mostly on the top end. I changed plugs, coils, wires, air filter, cleaned A/F, no change. So I have a friend that is a master mechanic and he ran a compression test(with the proper Mazda equip). The front was 6.7 at 240rpm and rear was 8.2 at 245rpm. His ALLDATA-online said 6.9 was min and 1.0 difference between rotors was max. This is why I brought it to my Mazda dealer to have them run a compression test. They said they would run CARBON REMOVAL PROCEDURE($300+ if needed) if it tested low. I picked it up($176 for test and oil and filter) and the compression tested at front 8.4(no rpms given?) rear was 8.8. It's fine they say did not need de-carb he also added its 6.5 min and 1.5 max between rotors is Mazda specs.......hmmmm? I've driven it a some and it seems a little better. Hmmmm.....my service rep said they called Mazda....why? Maybe to get ok on free de-carb. I will have to check it again someday.

It was at the dealer six hours. They told me it's free if it's still on the 4yr-50K mile warranty, mine's 5yr this mo. You are correct this is what is on the "TSB"...

That was my feeling at first....fishy. Now I will have to drive it a little too tell. It does say to "verified customer complaints" and It only had about 3-4 additional miles on so I don't know. My mechanic friend lives about an hour and a half away and is a very busy guy, so I don't know when that will happen. At least I have three more years on engine and have problem reported.

Hey Old Rotor, when it comes to a stop (say, red light), did ur motor ever dip below 700 rpm ?

mine did and it went to around 500 rpm then pop back up. I think my motor is going down

No never that low. I saw about 750rpm and felt a vibration. Get the de-carb done! I put some reg 87 in today and took the throttle body by pass out. This was put in to stop MIAC(Marble In A Can)ping. It was about 100F here today and I pushed it hard and did not hear preignition. With less carbon glowing hot no MIAC. I have had to run prem 91 for the past 16K miles(two years) during the hot months only to stop MIAC. I have to do more high RPM test to prove it to myself but feel pretty good about it.
