Did the recall today

Took my 8 in this morning for the gas tank recall. Not only did my dealership install the pad near the gas tank, they also did the R-flash and a general inspection. The ball-joint thing did not apply to my 8. My service advisor said the R-flash limits engine RPM to 8000 for no more than 30 seconds, when the car isn't moving, of course. On the drive home, I couldn't really tell any difference. Car runs good, as always.

I'm getting my recall work done next week. Did you know how much time it took them to do this work for you?

i took mine in thursday morning, got my loaner car and got my baby bacl froday afternoon. they did the ball joint and the gas tnak recall. i think my car runs a bit smoother after i picked it up. mainly i was glad to get it back. i got a nissan altima instead of the usual taurus, which suck, but it just was not the same as my 8. :o

Had my recalls done on Tuesday. Apparently no replacements were necessary. Well at least it was looked at.

I'm getting the ball joint recall done as I write this. My dealer has free wifi in their bad-a lobby area. AND they have a two player Gran Turismo 3 setup (with two steering wheels). (This is at Roger Beasley Mazda Central in Austin). And they have free donuts and they have your choice of coffees and hot chocolate and some pretty RX-8s to stare at. I've been here for about two hours so far, but it hasn't seemed that long. I've been entertained...

Recall done, R Flash

Took My 8 in for the recall on the ball joint yesterday. It didn'y apply to my car. They did an oil change and did the gas tank pad recall also. They also did the "R" flash. It took them 1 hour and a half . Would have been quicker if I hadn't asked 300 questions of the mechanic that was doing the work. Can't tell a bit of difference in the the way the car runs ... The work was done at twin city Mazda in Alcoa Tn. Good folks to deal with.

Had mine done last Thurs. And my first tank I got 16.4 vs. my usual 15.0 mpg. Hmmm...we'll have to see if the E flash has helped my gas mileage on the next tank.

Angry

Did mine yesterday and when I came back to pick up my car someone had opened their door into my door and I had to go to the body shop to get an estimate. Sucks when the dealer treats your car less than you do. They got the insurance info from the guy that did it. I don't think the recall and flash was worth damaging my car. $545 worth of damages. &%$#@*

About one hour and I waited while they did the work. I made the 9:00 AM appointment the day before.

I had mine done this past friday but I was suprise at what I learned from that trip. I found out that I can't drive my car like grandma. Not that I do, what I didn't know you can have problems with carbon built up if you don't rev the RPM high enough here and there. I know this is not new, anyone knows of a thread about this?

I just got my recall work done today (pad + E flash I think). The throttle response seems better, and the power delivery in 2nd feels smoother, no sudden increase in power at 6k rpm. Maybe just because the ECU was reset but who know.

You're right, it's not new. Drive your car like you stole it or some variation of that. This car wasn't meant to be driven like a grandma anyway. Redline once everytime you drive it.

Btw, i'm going to have my recall done tomorrow.... hopefully they don't screw it up like the last time I had them do something to it (way overfilled the 1st oil change).

lol...yeah, sounds like the dealership I take my 8 to also...

Every business should have WiFi...I mean come on people, it's 2005...lol.

I have not made an appointment yet mainly because I don't want to be without my 8 but I know I'll have to do it sooner or later. I just hate to give up a day at the dealership or lose time off work because of it (while driving some cheap 4 door).

I did the fuel tank recall today also. It only took like 30 minutes. I'm not sure if they gave me the latest flash though.

I'm having my recall done next week. I scheduled for both items and I hope they replace the ball joints. Since I drive the car on the track (and autox), it makes me really nervous that I could have a critical joint like the ball joint break (which would result in a loss of steering and almost definitely a crash).

For what its worth. The dealer told me yesterday that the gas tank thermal pad recall can usually be done quickly. The problem is that sometimes they have to let the car cool down before they can get at it.

This is exactly what the saleman told me when I bought my first RX-7 in 1985. He said the car was meant to be driven in a sporting fashion; don't baby it. While the salesman for my RX-8 didn't repeat that, I knew that the same advice applied to my new 8.
