they dropped the advertised HP to 232 from 238. I'm not sure as though the 05 was actaully 232 and just advertised incorrectly or not.

Also, the 06 has the keyless start with the card-looking-thing. Pretty impressive, really. Aside for the aformentioned changes, any ohers would be very small details.

keyless features are only with the grand-touring or shinka packages.

I remember reading here how the Bose was going to be improved a little—something with the bass, if I recall. Did they, in fact, do this? Has anyone actually compared to hear if there's a difference?

I'm not sure about the hp being 232hp for the 05. Carpoint, Edmunds and Mazda.com all show the 05 having 238hp.

that's because of the new system for calculating horsepower for 2006 that was implemented.

2006's have a different crankcase breather system........supposed to stop the condensation/oil in airbox issue.

I don't know if they did or didn't, but I do know that I was prepared to hate the stereo in my '06 after reading this site, but have been pleasantly surprised. I think it sounds pretty damn good.

Regarding the engine cover, I'd also heard it was a pain to take off and put back on, but find it is incredibibly simple.

So either they did indeed improve it for 2006 or a lot of you are semi-retarded

Damn, wish I had waited for the 06 - the siver center would look WAY better hanging on the wall in my garage.

Calipers are painted silver and the center of the rotors are machined with a different finish to deal with the prior rust issues. I'm not sure if all '05's came stock with an A/C condenser screen but my '06 has one from the factory.

I have a 2003 RX-8 from Japan and it runs great! No problems in a year since ive had it and its number 284 so reall early

Just make sure you get the type S model. This is the best model with 250hp. All the years are basically the same with no external differences at all. The 2003 is the same as a U.S. 2004

The biggest change one year was they made the washer fluid bottle clear instead of black, so if that stuff matters don't by a 03 lol

Good luck bidding

It sounds fine, but for some reason everyone is a critic and an audiophile. The only flaw I have with it is that it could use more bass.

The prongs on the bottom of the engine cover fit into rubber holes, especially on new cars the rubber isn't lubricated and can be difficult to push into. It got easier on my car as time went on because the grommit loosened up.

thanks rotor man!! i am planning to buy one fronm the auctions here and my budget might only allow me to get a 2003 model...so i was worried if there were inferior parts but its sounds like there arent...but a black window washer bottle...its a hard one>>>>>????? but i think i can live with that..and yes of course it will be the type S!
