Differences between GT & base?
Hi iam new to learning of the RX8s and im looking to buy a new car soon and i have narrowed it down to an NA MX-5, 06+ Civic Si, and now i am looking at these RX8s... So i was wondering what the major differences are between GT and base models? is there LSD on either? Just what are some of the differeing features or for that matter any standard features anyone feels i should know about? any advice and info would be appreciated!! Thanks.

Sport is basic, GT has everything (navi, leather, heated seats, blah)
LSD is in both of them.
If you are going to track/autoX is sport will be better, if you want a fun ride with all the features GT is for you.

Also i hear reviews stating things like "the more powerful version" what do they mean i thought same rotary in each? i could understand the auto-tranny? Is that what they mean?

Yes, the automatic has lesser hp due to the transmission's limits. I THINK the newer ones now have the same output as the manual, but i'm too lazy to do a search to find out for sure.

i've has had both the sport and the gt and i can say that in for the winter months heathed leather seats are very very nice to have! , plus for some reason my 07 GT is a smoother ride than my sport 05 was. Other than that same difference.

The Sport has everything you need and nothing you don't. Plus it costs considerably less than the GT. I don't care for junk like sun roofs and heated leather seats in a sports car. And I'm certainly not going to pay more money for it. I passed up an 07 GT with 7K miles for a new 08 Sport with nothing extra.

I have leather but wanted cloth. Here in Canada there is no option of sunroof/cloth seats (ie Touring trim).
Though in winter, it's hard to get people to leave the passenger seat cuz they love the heated seats so much.

Leather's great for sliding around in your seat and gets cold in the winter and hot as hell in the summer. So think what you want. Totally pointless option for a sports car along with sun roofs and all of the other nonsense they packaged in there.

except a lot of people buy this car to use as their DD :-P

F anything that adds extra weight (leather and heated seats included). I will get crap when I'm old. My car came with everything I need for performance and no more. Navigation? WTF? My cell phone or a good road map read by my passenger can take care of that.

^ it comes in handy though.....i too, used to own a sport, and my gt by far is much better, especially in the rain, to have that traction control at your disposal is just perfect, plus those heated seats after a hard day at work only makes it better, not to mention the GT also has heated side mirrors for those cold days when all your window are fogged up and cold, no need to go out an wipe those mirrors down.
