Disable Redline Warning Buzzer

Yes I searched. Is there any cost effective way of getting rid of that awful buzzer that kicks in every time at 8500? Maybe there is a fuse that can be set to disable it somewhere? Does anyone know where the hell the buzz actually comes from? if so then maybe I could just remove the actual buzzer itself, although i would like to remove whatever process is involved with telling the damn thing to buzz in the first place. The stupid thing ruins the perfect engine note which I would like to hear at redline. I paid for 9000 revs damnit, so let me hear them. BTW, I'm not an 8 hater, I actually love mine, I just have this one gripe with it...

The buzz is a trademark of rotaries. It is the music of Success. It is a constant reminder that you chose to be different. On that note, mine isn't that loud so maybe mine is defective and I don't experience the same level of noise you do.

I love the buzzer man, let's you know when you have to change in first or second and I just like the sound of the beep. The FC version pissed me off, especially in that old school top gear video when it was up against the Porsche 924.

The 04's must have a weak buzzer, I can not hear it. Maybe is the Greddy SP2 fault??

what is wrong with you people? Are you telling me you would rather listen to a high pitched electronic beep versus a high performance street motor at 9000+ rpm? omg

The engine practically drowns out the beep at redline. It takes effort to hear it, I can't imagine how it's keeping you from enjoying the sound of the engine.

FYI, it's best to shift just before the beep anyway, your power is already starting to drop off if you wait for the beep.

not true, especially in the lower gears it's best to shift at at least 9000. that's why you will see mazda test drivers shifting well past redline. there's actually a good vid of one at laguna seca where the guy pretty much never shifts before 9200 or so.

They're probably doing that to avoid having to shift back down soon after due to decelerating for a turn or something. That applies more to tracks than roads. You are well past peak power by the time you hit redline.

It'd be amazing if they let you toggle the redline beep (ie adjust its volume, turn it off).

It would be even better if you could add your own sound. Like an orgasmic female voice moaning "shiiiiift". That would PWN.

An even better would be "it's over 9000!" since rotaries are one of the few cars that actually surpass 9000 rpm's. (r34 skyline does too)

The buzzer is there for a reason.... and 8500 is technically redlining... it is shaded.

I listen to both actually. I hear a slight beep as my engine is zooming ha

According to MAZDA peak HP happens @ 8,500. The many dyno runs posted on this site also supports this. There is no reason to shift at 9,000.

sure there is - to stay higher in the rev band in the new gear. and if you have a flash like the RB one you definitely want to stay in it to 9500

Exactly. It's about where you land in the next gear... not just where a little peak is on a graph.

Disabling the buzzer is ridiculous. I haven't driven in a RX8 in a couple of years, and I can still hear the exact pitch of the buzzer in my head, and I bet you guys never forget it either. It's frickin' cool. It's part of experiencing a rotary.

With a nice exhaust you don't hear the buzzer much, just well enough to know how to shift. And I agree, I like it, it's also chaos to try and follow the rev counter when you are speeding :P
