Discovered an awesome new mod- routine maintenance
--Replacing the spark plugs and air filter. Car "seems" a lot peppier and for certain idles much better.
My old plugs were extremely gunky after 31,000 miles. Is this because I live up north and mostly do in town driving? I don't mind replacing them more often except that they are kind of expensive. Second question- would really dirty plugs do much other damage eventually? I'm wondering if perhaps the cat or something will get fouled up quicker from incomplete combustion. But mostly I'm happy the car seems to run better.

I should be getting new plugs installed by Mazda's service department for the flooding TSB.
I also recently nabbed two sets of new plugs for future use. They are the renovated style plug to help prevent fouling.
Which plugs were they you installed?

They are just the std NGKs supplied by Mazda dealer here in NZ . He told me this was the cheapest way to get them (in a set of 4) . Goes just the same as before

No, NTP can legally drive. He's just screwed in the fact that he can't find an RX-7.
Spark plugs aren't a mod, changing what sends spark to the plugs is a mod. Direct Leading Fire Ignition System utilizing a FC leading coil is what I'm using in my FB. Kicks ***.
