Disheartened MORE....
Driving around 3000 rpms in 4th gear I was approaching a nice 80 degree double-apex on-ramp. Behind me was a Camry. I down shifted to 2nd and I guess he had the same Idea. I was hoping to get a closer look at his headlights but as my rx8 entered the turn, the gutless-wonder it is simply refused to slow down! Seriously - I took that turn at about 50mph and when I floored at the apex, the car shot thru the exit of the turn. Frustrating for me, that f'in Camry was RIGHT THERE 425 feet behind me. (sigh). I never got a good look at the headlights, as i wanted.
This car doesn't have enough suckiness in how it handles turns. I dunno if I should bother weighing it down or removing the sway bars...it simply will never BLOW in lateral acceleration.

Look...there are certain weaknesses this car has. And going freakin fast through corners is one of them. If you don't like it and you want something that is slower through corners than you need to be looking for a new car. This isn't for you pal.

You really wouldn't recommend the Kumho MXs? I read that in another thread. I'm definitely needing tires when the black rpf1s show up.

it's funny because i've found probably 10 RX8 owners who love the MX tires.
hrm... I want something as close to levels of grip as 615s, but perhaps 5k-10k more street drivable miles. If i can get 20-25k miles that'd be fine, although I'll err on the side of 'grip' over longevity.

I know I'm a newbie, so I probably shouldn't say this, but this is a terrible waste of bandwidth and unnecessary bashing of the OP of the other thread...
I thought I joined a RX-8 forum, not a Civic Si or RSX forum....
If you think RX-8 is on another level than the rice pocket rockets, then shouldn't the owners act more maturely than the members of those clubs?
Just my 2 cent, let the newbie flaming begin...

There are 4 tires the street tuner class dominant autoxer's are running this year. I would pick one of these:
Bridgestone R-11's
Yokohama AD08's
Dunlop Z1 star specs
Kumho XS's.
I just purchased the Dunlops because based on reviews these seem to be the best bang for the buck. But if you don't care about price the AD08's seem to be slightly better in the rain.
The Kumho's don't seem to have the cold and wet weather traction of the others though.

And actually, making a mockery thread is far gentler than most other options.
That being said, as the price of the 8 continues to drop, it is available to more and more people that couldn't otherwise afford it, including those 'less mature'. Naturally, this will have an overall impact on the board, and perhaps we are just keeping it in check somewhat

Nope.
On a side note: Flame on.
To me there is a difference between light hearted fun of a dubious thread [I'm not a street racer but I was racing this Camry] and just being flat out jerks.
Lighten up a tad MICHGoBlue.
We already had a 16 year old telling us to screw off before anyone said anything....

Well, bash me all you want, that won't make your cars with little Wankels up front any faster...
RX8 sucks ***** in many other ways. Many moons ago I was lucky enough to get ahead of a retarded Civic driver and even slowly got away from him on a curvy road... Just to exit it and see a wall of traffic ahead... I hit the brakes, and the sh!tty the car stopped on a dime, with poor b**d on Civic almost slamming into me.
If mazda engineers had any sense, they would have made the car's deceleration as slow as its pickup... that would have made for much more smooth and harmonious driving experience.
