compared to other cars in the market that are in it's price range then I would say yes it's slow, but compared to your average civic ricer then no. Theres more to the Rx8 then straight line, which is why I bought this car.

..its the weekly “slow” discussion.
I’ll say once again, slow is relative, since everyone has a different idea of acceleration. Guys who are used to Vipers, C6’s, etc. would likely call the 8 a straight-line slug, and relatively to those cars, it is! With me, one of my bikes can reach the 8’s top speed in about 10 seconds, so of course the 8 feels slow. But to me, the way it builds power, the sounds, the smoothness, the 9000+ rpms…more than satisfies.
But, many guys can’t look past the fact that a mid 14 sec. quarter is not a “fast” time in 2006, especially for North Americans. That just means cheaper 8’s for those of us who recognize a great car is much more than quarter times.

yeah, i came from a pig of an A4 v6 automatic. it was pretty slow compared to my 8. I realized there were other cars that were faster if not, MUCH faster for the same price, This was the sexiest yet practical option with plenty of speed for me. Though, i'm beating a dead horse by saying the gas mileage stinks so much i stopped occassionally commuting to the city and rely on buses and trains.

It's fast enough for me...I think of it this way....we are faster than most of the cars out there...since most of the cars out there are sunfires, cavies, cobolts, civics, and old beat up cars. I have the fastest car at work. Honestly, when you are in the street...and you look around...most of the cars you will see are slower than the rx-8. I love my car.

face it .. it kicks *** among many other cars on the street .. and for the price its almost unbeatable
yeah i dont get the stares .. maybe cause we have so many cars in the city that it doesnt matter or i dont pay attention .. but im starting to hear from my friends .. its a nice day - why dont we take your car .. as if it was exotic or what not .. well it is to me but it's cool they see it like that too
