Do you give a crap, how fast is the RX8?
#29
I DO care how fast my car is, but I'm not bitching about it being slow (at least not for the last 2-3 months) if you want it fast......mod it, thats what mods are for DUH
if you just want a faster car, and don't want to put time and effort into it, not want to be committed to making it faster, then trade it in, and get ur self a scooter or some crap, seriously

I want 10,000,000,000 hp so every time I go fast I have to rebuild my engine lol But yeah some extra hp would be cool. After driving a sc 8 its like wow this is the way the car should be off the lot.

If I go to the dealership and I have a choice of 2 stock 8 and one had your normal
232 hp and the other had 300 hp , I think I would take the 300.
I would have to agree with IKE on this one.
If any body say otherwise I wouldn't belive them.

I have a CBR too. Wait pretty soon you'll feel like that should be faster too. No matter what you have you always want more. Thats the underlying truth in my life anyway. Ike I bet if you could get more horses out of the Evo you would take it too. Its all relative. So to me this question is pretty dumb. My CBR does 0-60 in about 2.6-2.8 seconds and I still want more.

When I first bought the car I did not really know how it compared to others cars in straight line acceleration . The reviews I had seen on the car made no mention of the car being underpowered - they all praised the handling and said it went fast so that was good enough. So for the first year I was happy as a pig in **** with the performance of the 8.
Then I discovered this forum - what a downer . Everyone complaining how they got beat by some ricer or other . Thats when I started caring and developed "RX8 complex " . Funny - the car was just as fast but in my head it had lost something.
Anyway - I'm out on a twisty road yesterday & having a ball . I start thinking about what an extra 100 hp would do for me in this situation and very quickly come to the realisation that I can only just handle the amount of power the car already has .
The RX8 is fast - no question . Once you appreciate that and stop trying to drag race every ricer in town instead of using the car the way it was intended you will feel so much better about it.

Right now the car is faster than I am around a track. Once I get to the point that I am not looking for power to bail me out of my mistakes then I really should spend money on more power.
On the street I wish I had more power for passing and didn't have to downshift to 3rd on the highway to get the oompf I want.
So my answer: Yes I care. I did after all by a sports car. But because of all the great things about this car it's not at the top of my list of what I'd spend money on right now.

i owned one for two years, when it looks they way it does and has no get up and go( all bark-no bite),it becomes annoying you spent all this money and a RSX Type S could put the woods to you. On everyday drriving NO ONE is doing lateral G's on a skidpad. Or showing off how well the car stops. In evderyday drving it's straightline speed which the RX-8 has WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY to LITTLE of. I moved onto a 06 WRX about a year and half ago and just upgraded to a STI. The level the STI is on for handling AND POWER is too much fun, something the RX-8 could never reproduce.....sorry. I figured I'd stop by after awhile, i loved my RX but after having this STI for over a month and a RX attempted to race me yesterday I had to swing by and laugh a little. Oh and by the way the interior in a STI is just as nice or nicer than a RX the blue Suede seats are better quality then the "Ford" leather you get in a RX. FLAME AWAY SLOW POKES

EVEN with your big 11PSI greddy turbo keep dreaming on ever even getting close to a STOCK STI on open or closed roads. You have compromised your reliablity greatly to get power you should have had from factory. Like I said I put 30k on one and loved it, but it simply does not provide the excitment other sports cars do. And I come troll around here and there, being a previous owner I feel it's my right. BUT GUYZZ the INTERIOR IS SOOOOOO NICE.....youz guyz better grasp at something like that.... I used to till I got a car witha actual engine in it

You're also talking out your *** about reliability decrease. My car runs 100%, turbocharged for a year now.

I'm thinking about buying a 2008 corvette, easy horse power is appealing, but .. vettes are a dime a dozen on the roads.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that you're dissing people here for having compromised on horse power, meanwhile you've taken at least as much of a hit when choosing a car with that body style. I've had cars that have both, and I can tell you with all certainty that a RX-8 with 250-300 whp is always better than your STI. Stock or not.
