Do you give a crap, how fast is the RX8?
#103
Well, i took my girlfirend and 2 of her friends to the blue ridge parkway this past weekend and after about 4 curves they were yelling at me to slow down. i guess if it had more horsepower they would have told me that after 3 curves?
It's fast enough for what i like to do in it, and that is drive curvy mountainous roads at the limit, while trying to wipe the smile from my face. Matter of fact, it's perfect for that. i'm a handling junkie.

Nowadays a decent 0 to 60 is about 6 seconds. RX-8 is in that range. Other competing sports cars are in that range, some a bit faster. Muscle cars out there that will blow all of these away. But, like MGB and TR3 owners of yesteryear, that's not why I bought mine.
There are so many cars out there, so many choices. IMHO, people griping the RX-8's speed are just having too many second thoughts about whether they made the right choice for themselves.
Then there are the ones who want more speed, and are doing something about it - adding turbos. IMHO, that's a really healthy attitude. Do rather than gripe.

Yes, but I'm multitasking right now. C'mon man you don't actually believe all the nonsense about cheating turbos and comparing RX-8s to V6 Mustangs because the V8 isn't a fair comparison. How about how imaginary cars will run circles around the S2K and how another imaginary car (the super duper fast Mazdaspeed 8) will dominate a whole bunch of other cars?

Well, Ike is just telling the facts. The Rx8 is not fast... It's rather slow to today's sport car standars (whatever that is..)
The fact is most people in this forum are in denial (usually the noobs) about how fast (or shall I say SLOW) the car is....
They are dissapointed at the fact that the car looks awesome, handdles like a dream BUT IT IS SLOW>...
....ever wonder why there are no "kills section" in this forum... (besides it's dangerous and childish)?..
The Rx7 club has it.....

I don't care about any of it - see my 1st post a page or 2 back. I just don't understand how you don't get completely bored w/the whole topic. You must be ADD or something to not be completely sick of posting the same damn things in every thread that comes close to the "RX-8 = Fast?" topic.
Wouldn't me not getting sick of posting the same damn things over and over again be the opposite of ADD? Besides, it's been months since I've partipated in threads like the two that have popped up recently.

if u want a faster car, mod it, or else, shell out the other 4-5 k that u can use to mod ur car and go trade in a new one.........
oxymoron you stupid morons, I'm done with this thread

Why do you guys let haters bother you so much? They're fun.
I love to argue on the internet. The saying is true about how it's like retards in the special olympics, only I'm not really in it to win or lose - I just like working people over until I run out of things to say, or until the other person snaps.
It kills time, makes the work day go by faster, amuses me when people legitimately get worked up, and sometimes results in some pretty damn classic quotes.
It's fun to observe their stuborn reactions and compare them to real-life behavior you've observed elsewhere. For example his one-sentance, prideful retort to my essay (that was fun to write, btw) reminds me of those really cocky, always holding their heads up, always eyeing everyone down, always have that "I know everything" smirk kind of guys you see working their highly prestegious job as the head wiper at the local car wash at the ripe young age of 32.

I think Ike has been more than fair in talking about the 8 so far.
The 8 is certainly a great car, but I won't pretend it's fast. Everyone has a power level at which they will be satisfied. For some it's stock power (or even less!), some will be plenty satisfied with the level of power provided by forced induction. That's a viable option for lots of you, so go give Mazsport or Pettit a call.
Personally I voted that I care how fast the RX8 is. After I bought it, the "new car" excitement wore off, and I was ready to get some boost. I researched the hell out of the topic, joined local car clubs, and rode in lots of FAST vehicles. My researched and experience with faster vechiles led me to a conclusion - right now the Renesis can not provide power levels I would be happy with. The only way to reach a power level I'd be satisfied with would be an astronomically expensive engine swap. I'm not spending 12-20 thousand dollars on a new engine in my 8.
What did I decide to do? Get a car that looks almost as good as an 8, handles better than most, and can get me to my goal - 550whp.

Hmmm the RX 8 a slow car huh???
all I need to do to dispute this garbage is look a bit in my current issue of Sportscar magazine. (the SCCA's publication)
-- page 66 a report on the Chicago regions june sprints. :
" New track records were agian the name of the game, as Robert Huffmaster ans his Mazda RX-8 captured the new mark and the win in the DP class "
- congrats !!
Page 30 .. the who will win article.
Under the B stock description:
"BS: B stock continues to be almost a spec RX-8 class, with an odd 350z and MR2 turbo thrown in for spice."

I wouldn't say I was "worked up," though. Nearly half of my posts are that length - it's just how I write; hardly anything or way too much.
Either way, I had fun writting it, and you probably got bored reading it, so I technically still came out on top :P

Its the best compromise, 4 seater, kinda two doors lol, real wheel drive, six speed and handles like its on rails. I want the Mazda over tha Z because of it can hold more people and more of my junk as i speed carelessly down the free way n back roads. Its a great car and yes i think 30 extra HP would just make it even better

Guys, you do realize there's a comma in the title right? The OP is asking two seperate questions: "do you give a crap?" and "how fast is the RX8?".
Do you give a crap? -- Only to the toilet.
How fast is the RX8? -- This fast.
