Do you let your s.o. drive your Rx8?
#27
She doesn't WANT to drive it because she's afraid of stalling the thing (even when it's warmed up). She doesn't kill the clutch when I was teaching her, and she's a very smart woman, but she doesn't want to hurt it, so she won't drive it

couldn't have said it better myself. too many rules, it ruins the fun for her. of course, she also managed to hig my NEW ms bumper on a parking curb that cost some $600 to fix. i never let her drive it again!! i've actually said recently she can drive it whenever she wants, but after how mad i got, she has no desire to!! poor thing, i was so mad i scared myself
EDIT: so this poll needs "not anymore" and/or a "yes but she won't" added to it before i can vote!

my gf drove the 8 when i first got it. now that i have so many mods and she has seen some of the bills and the way it has to be driven lowered she has no interest. Plus when she has drove it i have to be in the passanger seat and im a nervous wreck. that and she too hates the parking rules. the bmw isnt a bad idea.

After helping me out to install the clutch bracket reinforcement (man that was a PITA for me since there was no way I could fit down there and work) she has won the right to drive the car! However, this is a rare phenomenon She prefers me driving her around all the time)

Actually, my wife refuses to drive it.... I've tried to get her but she won't do it.
She did drive it once....and she, luckly the car was in park, mashes on the gas in the driveway instead of hitting the brake. awesome time. she could have either gone forward into the garage door or reversed into curb if she had put it into a random gear. Cold engine as well. woohoo.
She hasn't driven it since and won't even try.
fine with me, I don't have to drive much then since we take her car.

My wife has horrible hand eye cooridnation and to boot is not a very good driver.
I tried to teach her to drive a stick several times, each ending in total failure.
But things change and with a first born now we needed to be able to switch cars every now and then. So I sold the 05' stick and bought an 09' auto. She loves to drive the 09, says its smooth and she likes the finish more. That being said, she is still a terrible driver so she prob wont get to drive it unless its necessary (aka I'm drunk and we took my car somewhere)

I answered yes because I'd let her if she wanted to. But she probably never will. She doesn't like shifters - and knows my Wrangler is a LOT easier to drive if she needs another car to drive. I occasionally need her van (tomorrow for instance), so I've put us into a tight spot by selling our 3rd car (an auto) and replacing it with the 8. She doesn't seem to mind the occasional inconvenience of being stuck at home for a few hours, though. I have a great wife :>

In the 6.5 years I've owned my 2004 Sport 6-speed manual, my wife has only driven it once. We've owned many manual transmission cars, so she's reasonably proficient with a manual transmission, but she admitted that she was nervous driving my car. She was very, very impressed with the powerful brakes, however.

My wife would certainly be allowed to drive Zoomy. But she has not driven a stick shift in years, and claims to no longer know how to. Funny thing is that she was trained on manual transmissions in Europe, and had no problems driving our BMW back in the 70s. I always thought driving manual was like riding a bicycle - once learned never forgotten.
