Do you still give the friendly wave?
How time flies when you're having fun. It has been over 3 years since I got this baby and still loving it.
Remember back in the old days when we gave each other the friendly wave on the roads? It was almost like an unwritten law among us, that was (is) cool. Back then, 99% of time you would get a friendly wave back. Now, it is more like 50% or less. So, when do we stop? and why do we have to stop?

Yes, still give the friendly wave, although the last two times I tried, one time I got ignored, 2nd time I chucked a rev and waved and got a nod back.

With motorcycles, even Harley riders would wave at a guy on a sportbike. Shoes, even scooter guys get a "what it do?!"
I waved at the first 3 or so 8 drivers and have since stoped because I've been left haning once too many. The other day, I was in Burlingame to go to a dentist appointment and saw a lady in a white 8 and waved. She rolled her eyes. And not too long a go some dude in a SS 8 gave me a mean-mug and looked at my car the same way. After 3 short months of owning an 8, I'd say I'm "jaded" to other's, so-called, enthusiasm. If they wave, then I'd return the gesture.
Just don't want to look like a dweeb on the road anymore. I've a rep to uphold, ya'know? j/p.

ya, I'm going to have to agree with Phantom...
I've waved some, and about 90% of the time the other drivers don't care... Worse of all, is that I've seen a red RX8 with a Polak sticker & a couple of mods around where I live, and even that little miscreant doesn't wave...

my Nova Blue gets a lot of attention...so I tend to smile and wave at folks when I end up with their attention. at least when I notice. ...well...I suppose I catch attention too...not everyone goes around wearing goggles of varying colours... ^_^

I haven't had a wave acknowledged for months now... People are just vacant, or plain rude... I mean, I drive the *same* friggin' car; why the elitism? lol

I remember back then, everyone was very enthusiastic about seen another 8 on the road. Now, 8 is just another car to some 8 owners. I wonder if they even know what rotary engine is.
Anyway, I like Fritzcat, I give a wave when I see them. But I won't go out of my way to do it. BTW, is this part of the club rule? If it's not, it should be.

If I get up close to them and they actually notice my car, I'll give a wave/thumbs up/nod and every now and then the driver will respond. But in most cases, i.e, random old lady on the cell phone driving a slow auto and has no idea she has no pistons, they just don't seem to 'notice' my Zaino'd Velocity Metallic Mica Red.

i hardly notice other 8s while i'm driving anymore. maybe if i come to a stop or something i'll wave. they have to actually look over (i have tints so ill look and if they look over too ill lower my windows.. haha)
about 3 weeks ago a made a left turn onto w/ a street with a silver modded 8 right at that intersection as well. it wasn't till i entered the street did i notice it was another 8. haha. i tried to give a quick nodd though.

I keep trying. The occasional success makes it worth it. Mostly I find its just hard to make eye contact and get *any* kind of response; when I do, it's been positive.

I say just keep waving even if the other party doesn't wave back. When you stop waving others stop. Thats why it gone from 90% to 50% you have to remember not all Rx8 drivers are car enthusiasts, and some people are just plain rude. Don't let those rude people take our thunder. Just because there rude doesn't mean it has to cause you to change.

from the older Male drivers i get a wave/nod/thumbs up back. from the younger guys i get a rev and 'do you wanna race look' back.
from the younger ladies they just laugh..
from the older women, they just give a complete blank stare.

I wave........well i high beam first then usually i get a high beam back from a distance back and we usually wave. I've high beamed an 1st gen RX-7 and it flickered its lights at me too . I say its a hit and miss with RX-8 owners and RX-7s.....but when they wave back, it makes it worth it cause its like you're both acknowledging you drive different cars. I hate high beaming or waving to women tho, they look at me like "do i know u"? "why are u sayin hi to me look". But it's great to get the high beam back or when the other 8 driver rolls down his window from cross traffic and puts his arms out to wave. I'll keep on high beaming as long as i see another 8. I love the fact that our fog lights go out if you flick the high beam switch on. so the other driver knows whats up.
