Do you wash your RX-8, or take it to a car wash?

Until earlier this year, I've always washed and detailed my vehicles. But when my right shoulder went sour on me last April, I gave up and started taking both of my vehicles to a local car wash.

The car wash is billed as "hand wash" and they truly are just that. We can walk along a windowed corridor and watch the action. Now that I have completed about 8 visits, I can truly say that the car wash does a great job. I've been opting for some step-up service that includes a wax job and I must say that both of my vehicles look great.

At this stage of my life, I can truly say that this service is well worth it for me.

Hand washed every 3-5 days, waxed every 2 weeks, interior every 2 weeks, clay bar ever 6 weeks (equivalent to 3 times a year). I'm maticulate about my 8.

My DD I have delta sonic monthly service, 25 bucks unlimited washes. Location is right next to my work so I get a wash almost everyday

Car wash every couple of months, whether it's dirty or not.

I wash it myself. Having black cherry paint, I don't trust anyone aside from detailers who do paint correction to clean my car up. I get it detailed once in a while and religiously follow safe washing methods to minimize swirls before I get another detail job. I may consider getting a Porter Cable and start doing it myself...

A "Porter Cable" is an air compressor, correct? How would you use this to wash your car?

I have never had my car detailed. I have a pressure washer and wash/dry it every weekend. Water spots are a pain. Waxing once a month.

Before I had the pressure washer, I would take to a do it yourself car wash or a high end automatic car wash where they vacuum, wipe down the inside, and hand dry it. This cold weather drives me nuts, I hate seeing the car coated with salt. Mines a daily driver.

Pressure washers are terrible for paint, I would never use one.

Car wash. I'd do far more damage if I washed it myself.

Porter Cable is a brand, they make a dual action polisher which is also re-branded by Meguiar's.

I Give it a shampoo every sunday, like you i have a shoulder problem [frozen shoulder]
so i just got used to doing it with the other shoulder.Think it's the only way to get it done right when you do it yourself.

use a touchless automatic car wash once a week sometimes two (I have a specific one I go to no others will suffice) once a month hand wash and wax. Every three months 5-8 hour wash wax detail love session.

I used to wash it by hand because most of the car washes here cannot take lowered cars, but i found one close to my house that i can take it, and from now on, i'll just take it to that car wash...and its only $7, including a hand wash and hand dry...

Nothing beats a good hand wash, Fresh claybar and wax this week puts any other wash to shame!

Its just one of those things that you really have to do yourself to get it right!

I wait until my wife is sick of seeing it dirty, and she washes it. If she nags me, I'll wash it, but not very well, because the paint needs to be color sanded, and I'm too cheap to get it done.

Geez, I'm feeling pretty stupid... have never heard of a claybar before; actually had to google it. I must be getting old!

Wash/bathe - claybar - Compound - Finishing Polish - Super Finishing Polish - Wax

I think use a spray-on synthetic detailer for between waxes. Wax every 3/4 weeks. Lots of work, but when the car is free of all swirl marks and scratches, it makes the work worth it.
