Dodge Nitro R/T for RX-8 ?
Hi, Im new here to the forums but i don't YET have a RX-8. I currently have a black 2007 dodge nitro r/t stock. Im at a place where i could trade that in and get a 2007 manual mazda rx-8 with 17000 miles on it. I know you all have RX-8's and are most likely going to say yes but I really like my truck/SUV and kinda hesitant of selling it. Is the RX-8 really worth it ? Please any details of why I should or shouldn't trade it would really help my decision. Here is a picture of my truck.

Well I guess it depends on what you want out of a car. My advice is to list the 3 most important things a car must have for you over time, compare the two vehichles and see how they stack up.
I'd be hard pressed to believe that the Nitro would cost more to own than the 8 would. The 8 would mean more maintenance/insurance costs more/should run the expenssive gas through the rotary/ stuff like that. But, the 8 is a piece of art, the Nitro, no offense, looks like a glorified barbie mobile.

well guess i should qualify on my statement
the 8 is a superb sports car...with a lot of quirks. however, it's still very practical and usable as a daily driver. in stock form, it has pretty comfortable ride also. but it's the kind of car that requires more attention in terms of maintenance than, say, a mustang. it's also not a hot rod. the engine is high strung with little torque but nothing else revs like it, and the handling is among to best of anything money can buy. that said, the backseats are rather tight, gas mileage can be low, and the rear seat backs don't fold down. don't expect this car to be versatile as a camry
the nitro, on the other hand, isn't the greatest suv out there, but it is an suv. if you're used to throwing all your crap in it and go, you can't do that w/ the 8. the only other point where the nitro may have an advantage is warranty; did you buy it new? if so, you have that lifetime warranty, right? well the 8's warranty was extended to 8yr/100k miles, so that's not bad either. on top of that, by '07 most of the minor teething glitches have been ironed out in the 8, i'd say trading a nitro for it is no-brainer

Thanks ! Couple Questions.
Thanks everyone for your replies ! It has really helped my decision. The three things i look for in a car is comfort(sound, leather, space), speed, and most of all looks/style. I love the design of the rx8 it really stands out. I have found a rx-8 leather interior sunroof manual 2007 black on black i really like. how are the speakers ? i have 2 12" subs and pioneer indash touchscreen radio in my truck which i know will not fit in the rx-8 and the weight of the speakers will really weigh down the car. i also have a 7 color led kit under my nitro which i def plan on moving over. How bad is the rx-8 on torque really i would want to increase the torque but not looking to spend 10000 on a turbo. What small but powerful under $1000 upgrades are available ?

If you have a low self esteem I would suggest you keep the Dodge Nitro.
If you like driving a car and like to get feedback from it, the trade it for an RX8.
But I must warn you, some people in this forum have suffered serious psychological effect from owning the RX8. They develop strange attitudes towards oil and can sometimes become very territorial about. Then there is the "clear corner" syndrome, I am still trying to figure out what that is.
(whispering) some have even started to see thongs when painting the engine cover. This is very serious, some name their cars with sexy names. They are rumoured to be having wet dreams about them too. Some have confessed to be seeking aural pleasure from this car, they even make youtube clips of their escapades.
I thought you should know what you are getting yourself into. You have been warned.

get a new camaro or challenger. Should solve your torque problem. And you wont increase the torque a great deal in this car without putting in 10k as a minimum. Good luck on your search.

If you like the compact SUV form-factor, and want comfort, as well as looks reminiscent of the RX-8 (at least I think so; the two complement each other well sitting next to each other in my garage
), you could check out a CX-7. They're fairly torquey, too.

ok there's no need to get rude. sorry i dont have a lot of money to put into the rx-8 i am even trading my truck now for one so i dont have to pay anything. The reason i am so hesitant as to buying one is due to it sounds like you HAVE to buy a turbo for it to have torque and accel. Stock is it still a QUICK car ?
