ok there's no need to get rude. sorry i dont have a lot of money to put into the rx-8 i am even trading my truck now for one so i dont have to pay anything. The reason i am so hesitant as to buying one is due to it sounds like you HAVE to buy a turbo for it to have torque and accel. Stock is it still a QUICK car ?
Making modifications is all up to you.
If you are looking for a new car, what is your budget?

ok i have to keep it around 18,000 im looking to evenly trade my nitro for this car so i dont have to pay anything extra. i actually am getting the camaro SS but not for another year. so this would just be a car for about a year and the reason why i want a new car for a year is because i am so OVER my nitro its become uncomfortable. I am going to check this one out so ill have about 3000 in extra. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false Take a look and is there anything i should know about the 2005's?

Some argue that the rx8 is a slow car... and i guess on paper it probably is, but it is one of the funnest cars to drive ever regardless of speed.... its too hard to explain just go drive one.
P.S. no offense underglow on any car means you are trying way to hard to look cool, i would keep it away from an rx8 or any car for that matter, just my two cents.

in my opinion theres nothing like an rx8.. the design and look is so unique.. I like the new Camaro and Challenger, but eventually everyone will have one....just like the mustang.. Its a fad that will pass... but rotary cars; rx7's & rx8's are timeless.. look at this car in about 10 years and it will still lookin modern and up to date.

If you are going to be getting a new Camaro in a year, then I would definitely buy that RX8.
Enjoy driving that for one year, and maybe that will change your mind about get a Camaro...you never know.
I love driving my 8 around, it never gets old.

Yeah, muscle cars are a fad, and rotary cars were/are a true trend...

6ish in my 8 and 5ish in my Sky don't feel the same despite being about 1/2 second apart.
Reason being the torque. The Sky will throw you back and suck that turbo like there's no tomorrow to get to 60 in 5.2-5.5.
The 8 will quietly and quickly accelerate to 60 while you read the newspaper in one hand and have a cup of coffee in the other. It's amazing how much control you have of the car. You feel like you don't even have to hang on. Some people like this, some don't...personally I love it.
Then again, the Sky is fun too

Anyway, the best advice we can give you is to just DRIVE the RX-8 and see whether *you* like it. Some people think it feels slow as hell (which it can be if you don't shift it like it's meant to be shifted) while others (like me) think it's a fantastically well-rounded sports car.

well after a long day of looking at dented used rx-8s i found myself at a mazda dealer ship. The head manager approaches me and asks if i was interested in a trade for my dodge nitro ? i of course said yes and he then asks what car were you looking at. after answering rx-8 he then goes ahhh come with me. he takes me into a private showroom with two brand new rx8 r3's black and red. after checking out my car he offers me 20,000 for my truck ! which the last offer was 15,000 so i was in shock. The difference would be 14,000$ which I could spend and just get the r3 not the camaro. What do you guys think about the r3. i dont really understand what it is but is it as amazing as it sounds?

The R3 is the best trim you can get for the RX8. Here are some of the features (this is straight from the Mazda website):
* Performance-tuned suspension
* Bilstein® shock absorbers
* 19-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/40R19 performance tires
* Self-leveling Xenon High-Intensity-Discharge (HID) headlights
* Halogen fog lights
* Side sill extensions and rear wing spoiler
* Automatic climate control with pollen filter
* Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System
* Recaro® front sport leather- and cloth-trimmed seats
* Bose® Centerpoint® Surround Sound System with 9 speakers
* Bluetooth® hands-free phone capability**
* Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)†† and Traction Control System (TCS)
So you can tell that it IS as awesome as it sounds lol.

Is the sticker price 34k? If so you should be able to get it for at least 27-30k, 34k is the msrp of the r3 and since he has two in stock he's probably had them for sometime. Rx8's arnt really a hot sale at any Mazda dealership and especially r3's their the most expensive trim that are geared toward the more car enthusiast. So you should be able to talk them down. But from the look of it you went in without barely any knowledge of the rx8 price wise so it seems the guy could take advantage of you so beware.
The r3 package is great and the added extra features are awesome esp the recaro seats. But it also depends on what you like. Remember this car you dont feel the torque as per say with an american v8. You wont get thrown into your seat but yet you'll have one of the best handeling cars out there on the public roads to date. Go ahead and test drive the r3 and test drive the camaro before making your decision. That is the only way for you to make up your mind.

Mistake number one. Never tell the dealer you have a trade in/ money down, EVER!
First you should negociate price of the vehicle you want to buy.
After you agree on that then you drop the I have a trade in/ money down bomb and work that angle.
Basically the dealer is giving you 20K for your Nitro but charging you 33K for the R3, they are really only giving you 15K for your Nitro because the R3 should have been sold at 28K.
G/L with your purchase. I personally like the R3, but IMO would buy used since it is basically the same car performance wise and you can save thousands. just my .02

most of the guys here really like their car, honest opinion this car is full of lil things that you have to be on top of, not running low on oil, foggy tail lights, broken visors and these are lil things that happen all the time. car is not fast, it does not have alot of torque, looks good yes, but the A/C is crap, and center console heats up like crazy. so if you think you can deal with things like this just cause you really like the car, then get it. but if u just like the looks of it this is not the car for you.

yes stock is definitely still a quick car but its not your straight line 1/4 mile car....its designed and built for tracks and all of the nice curvy roads. On a quarter mile your not going to beat a mustang gt but it wont completely blow you away either, but lets say during that quarter mile a curve or two is thrown in you will blow the mustang away.
I say just watch this and you will want to buy it.
