Question Does anyone else get friendly honks?

Maybe it's just me, but it seems when I drive my new red RX8 more people seem to be giving me the double-honk as I like to call it...it's nice and all I guess I just didn't realize this car was getting so much attention on the road. The only time it isn't too great is when the honk comes from another guy...lol. But I'm loving the new car, just got it last Saturday.

Also, I have a quick question, is there a way to turn off TCS? I know I can turn off my DSC with a little push button on the left side of my instrument panel near the trunk release. I just want to be able to peel out once in a while...heh.

Where do you live? I've never had honks out of attention...unless from friends.

You turn off TCS by holding down on the DCS button for 7-8 seconds.

Cool

Thanks for the quick reply, I live in Jacksonville, FL...not sure what it is but I've gotten several of them in this past week. I'd say at least averaging about 2-3 a day. And I would've never guessed to hold down DSC for 7-8 seconds for the TCS so thanks for telling me.

BTW, most of the honks come from women drivers, a couple came from men...which I found to be a little odd.

Around here, people automatically treat honks as anger. None lately.

Honk, honk!!! Need pics!!!

I've gotten a few honks, generally from other Mazda drivers, though. Yesterday a guy that looked to be in his 30s in a Miata pulled out and as I caught up to him when the light change and got beside him he honked and started waving. At the next light he told me he just loved Mazdas and six different ones!!!

I got a lot of comments last night when my mom and I went to Dairy Queen after my MRI (I needed dessert). We sat out on the picnic table in front of my car and several people stopped to admire it and make comments, even it all its current filth (neighbor cut down some trees and all the tree "stuff" ended up blowing all over my car ).

I'm usually the honker but I have had the occasional honk. I always get the stare though, which is fine!

No... That is not correct... Read the owners manual...

If the DSC OFF switch is pressed
and held for a second or more, the
TCS/DSC system may become
inoperative due to the system
detecting switch trouble. If the TCS/
DSC system becomes inoperative,
the TCS/DSC and the DSC OFF
indicator lights illuminate
simultaneously. In this case, turn off
the engine and restart it to restore the
TCS/DSC.

I usually just flash my lights whenever I see another 8, I have yet to get a flash back though.

How do you know they are "friendly honks"? You sure there isn't something wrong with your car?

You know, the first day I got those honks, I checked out my car as soon as I arrived at work, and everything looked fine. That's when I figured they are honking just because of the looks of the car.

Oh and by the way, here's some pics of my RX8 that I took yesterday.

Interior 1 (I know, I should of put the window down)
