Does Mazda Motor do engine overhaul in your country?
Hi guys! I am from Asia, Singapore and driving a 2004 6MT RX8 bought directly from Mazda agent here (No more warranty).
Recently learn that Mazda Motor here don't do engine overhaul. They can only replace the whole engine if your engine is down. It is simply ridiculous!
The worst part is the engine replacement cost of USD $25K![Eyecrazy](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/Eyecrazy.gif)
Just checking if its the same scenario over in other countries?
Any feedback guys?

Hi.
As far as I am aware, In north America (Mazda Canada, M.N.A.O. (USA), and Mazda Mexico) no dealers are authorized to repair engine internals under warranty.
All replaced engines were either: Factory new; Factory remanned; remanned by an independant company (not such good Quality Control); remanned in a Mazda facility in the USA.
EDIT: Just re-read the second sentence of my post and found it doesn't make much sense.... I meant to say something like: The first replaced engines were shipped new from Mazda, with the failed engines shipped backed to Japan for inspection. Re-man engines were then supplied by William Technology (Delco Remy International Inc.) an independent company. In Summer 2008, Mazda re-established their own US re-manufacturing facility in Virginia, USA.
There! That's clearer

They only replace the engine with a remanufactured one here in the US.
No rebuilding of your engine.
Seems to me you could buy a new engine here in the states and have it shipped back and installed for a lot less than $25,000us.
