Does your 8 make you happy

Love it, love it, love it. Gas station visits are just another occasion for me to show off the hottest car in town. I tend to go for the pump on the corner facing the traffic so everyone can see me fueling it up and the SUV drivers can envy me. (okay, okay, it's posing, I'm bad, I'll go to hell, but I can't help myself)
Good suggestion above about the clerks. Hmmm, I use pay-at-the-pump. Haven't seen a gas station clerk in 8 months. Nevermind.
The kids respect too. The oldest daughter pulls the dashboard duster out from under the front passenger seat and touches up the dash on every trip (she's 10, hopes to drive it when she's 16). The middle daugher loves the cool door she uses to climb in behind the driver. Even the two year old prefers it. When I put her in another car she says, "NOOOOO! Don't WANT the white car. Want to ride in the BLUE car!" or "NOOOOO! Don't WANT the truck. Want to ride in the BLUE car!"

Well, JESUS makes me happy...but yes, the 8 brings me many smiles.
The thing is, driving is not just driving...it's actually an enjoyment when you own such a FUN to drive car. Now, when it's time to go home I actually look forward to the drive home.

Don't like it. No Torque, ride is rougher than it needs to be, been in shop 5 times in 8 months, battery died once, A/C **** just fell off. I can't wait until I can pay enough of it off to get a BMW 330CI. I do like the interior, fit and finish, controls, steering feel, looks. But the other problems more than outweigh the good. Loved my FD, but not impressed at all with the 8.

To make the math easy on my old brain, lets say that you average 100 mph for 60 minutes and get 20 mpg. That takes 5 gallons of gas to travel those 100 miles. At $3 a gallon (again, for ease of math), that's 15 bucks for an hour of therapy.
For professional therapy, you're looking at somewhere between $100/$200 for an hour long session that is really 45 minutes.
At those rates, I don't think it will take very long to pay for your 8.

Sure... this is the first time I have joined a forum. No other cars that I've had so far has had the same effect. I am happier now as I was when I got the car more than 18 months ago. Some cars makes you wonder what the big deal is... I am still amazed what this tiny 1.3L rotary does for throttle response and smoothness. I love this car... sometimes I wanna weep coz it has served me so well in those spirited moments where man and machine becomes in unison. It's a very symbiotic relationship with this car. How good is that!

I was sitting in traffic in front of a large building with mirrored glass. All I could do is smile at how good i looked in the 8. I pulled into a parking lot to where I was headed, the guy behind me stopped too. "Damn, that's a fine looking car" is what he said. I jsut smile and thanked him. Got back into the car and whet around the block past the mirrors again.

Despite all the recalls I still love it. It handles amazing, takes the corners great and is so easy to control it's freaky. I have had the car for 2.5 years and I still look at it now and then and say "Man that car looks really cool". And I still get a lot of other people that give me a thumbs up when I drive by or tell me how much they love the shape of the car. As a matter of fact the parking guy at my work today went on about how much he liked the mean look of the front end.
On another note the rotary engine is so smooth, high reving and sounds so good I can't help but love it.
When the warranty is up in my car I plan on slapping on a tubro. One that will bring the car up to 350RWP. I'm sure by then they will have cleaned out all the bugs with the current tubros. Then I will only drive the car in the summer/spring on weekends. I can't wait.

What other car can make 4 mile trip to the video store so much fun. I just took my 8 out to burn off some of the carbon build up, took the long windy road. Have only had this car for 3 months and it is my 9th car and by far the best and most fun car I have ever had. LOVE IT!

Yes, for the most part. I really enjoy the brakes, handling, and definitely the looks- everyone checks it out. I also enjoy having a fairly uncommon car that you don't see all day long.
The times it makes me sad are when I'm in the car with my GF and little teenagers in Evo's and WRX's want to go from stoplights. Always having to back down from from challenges like that hurts my ego, and I'm running out of excuses to keep my GF from thinking the 8 is slow!
On the flipside, the motor revving it's little heart out always makes me smile :-)

I'm having so much fun in my RX-8. I've only had the thing for a month now. Went through a week to a week and a half of hell trying to teach myself how to shift properly, but that's all good now. I'm going to enjoy the car even more once I schedule an appointment to get the MP3 CD player and XM radio installed.
