perhaps its something to do with radio firmware versions?
check it by doing the following:
To check your head unit's software code: Power the radio on, then press and hold the text and preset 1 buttons at the same time (you might need to start pressing the text button slightly before the preset 1 button). The Software version should be in the display. '04 vers. 9.40/9.50/9.53/9.55, and '05 ver. 9.67 (poss. SAT compatible).

go down to convenience features. Retained Accessory Power is supposed to be standard according to this article. which allows for:
Retained accessory power allows power features (e.g., windows, radio, sunroof) to be operated for a set period of time after the engine is turned off but before a door is opened.
Primary Benefit:
This feature allows the closing of windows (and/or sunroof) without having to leave the engine running.
tested on my 8, and I can close my sunroof and windows until I open the door. Radio remains on which was already mentioned in previous posts.

I wondered about this, the radio in some of my previous cars stayed on.
I assumed all the 8 trim levels didn't do it.
I have a 04 GT with the Bose system (no 6 disk), no keyless.
As mentioned before
-Radio cuts off with the key
-Can roll up windows
-Can't close sunroof or even "tilt"

Just wondering if anyone has found out why on some cars the radio stays on and on others it doesn't. My old car does this and would really like to have the 8 do it also.

Power inverters and other devices plugged into the cigarette lighter or the power plug in the center console will often keep things on such as the radio. Typically once the capacitor inside has fully discharged, things will go off.
