On one of my many recent trips to the auto store for detailing supplies, a young man said "You have a nice car."

I thanked him and felt great.

The next time I went to that store, there was a Rolls parked in the lot. No one told me I had a nice car.

One of the men at my church said that whenever I got tired of the RX8 he'd be around to pick it up. He laughed and we talked a bit about the car, he thought it cost $40k-$50k...LOL!

I couldn't believe that most people don't even know what make or model this car. Almost feels like Mazda's best kept secret.

I tend to get the look of hatred from other fellow rx8'ers. It seems whenever I pass an 8 on the street it is an older man, and seeing as I am 18, they almost seem to hate me oh well, I got an rx8 too :p

I also get the common stare-to-neck-breakage almost everyday, the first night i got the car, I was driving around with my girlfriend, Amanda, and get stopped at a light by a guy in his early 20's. "Yo man, Is that YOUR CAR?!?!" Ha, made me feel awesome! :D Even better, it isn't my mommys or daddys car!

Teenagers always come up to me, giving me the look like, "that guy thinks he is cool but that is just mommys car." If only they knew...

You won't get that from me. I'm 47 and I love seeing all sorts of people driving the 8. I think it's especially cool that I see women driving the 8. I think that says a lot about how smart they are and how they are not swayed by the typical expectations that the 'marketing world' has towards women drivers. As far as young people driving the 8, more power to you - just please take the time to learn how to drive it well. I bought my 1980 RX-7 when I was 21 and loved it when we popped our lights up and down as a hello to other passing RX-7 drivers.

Speaking of looks, I was driving in downtown Toms River, NJ today and a bunch of skateboard kids were doing their thing as I passed by. I was watching them because it looked like fun and then I noticed that they had all stopped skating and were gaping at my car as it passed by. Mutual respect.

We had an RX8 meet today here in Calgary. It was great to have a bunch of 8's lined up. People in the parking lot were just awestruck at the sight. It was great! You could see people walking and cranking their heads ... doing the look back and all.

For the most part out on the road its not getting as much attention as before. But last week I pulled into the Porsche dealer where I bought my current 911 Turbo, I pulled past a husband, wife and two sons, around 12 and 14, the kids started yelling at the Dad.."Dad, dad get that car, its the coolest one here" pointing at my car...lol. I walked in and was talking to my salesman about another 993 Turbo they got in and a mob started forming around my car. I looked at him and told him, even trade for the 993 Turbo...lol. :D
