Donuts In a AT?
I drive an automatic RX8 and it seems no matter what I do and even when i turn the DSC And TCS off i cannot get the car do do a burnout or even a donut. What type of sports car is that?

There was this lad that tried to show off to some girl in the parking lot where I was practicing my slalom. Unfortunately he is an absolute idiot with a S2000. After about stalling his car 20 times and most likely destroying his clutch, I decided to put him out of his misery and showed him how it's done. Donuts, burn outs whatever, it would be very apparent if your car is capable of it. I felt sorry for the S2000 though, what a waste of an awesome car.

Problem 1) The Rotary doesn't generate a lot of low-end torque at low RPM's, so in order to get close to popping the rear tires, you are going to have to rev the engine up into the upper parts of its power band, which leads to....
Problem 2) The AT in the RX-8 won't allow you to generate the RPM's nessecary to launch and 'donut'.
Solution: Get a MT 8
I've gotten my MT 8 to donut briefly by whirling the engine up to about 7000 RPM on launch at a local Autocross event, but didn't do it for long for fear of having to buy new tires earlier than I expected.

I have an A/T as well--but I must say this is one of the most foolish threads. Why would you buy an A/T RX8 (or any RX8 for that matter) and then become upset when you see it can't do donuts or burnouts? Its not like you didn't know that the A/T is low on power when you bought the car. Hopefully this is a troll thread and not someone seriously perplexed as to why he can't do donuts. Solution: Get another car.

Never tried a full on donut in my AT 8, but it is possible to swing out the rear and spin the tires a little when doing a quick u-turn. I assume this same technique could be used to start a donut...? Maybe find a wet parking lot...?

As far as donuts go you should be able to. For burnouts, not possible with the AT, but donuts, it should be possible. Turn your DSC off, turn your steering to the lock position (I favor lh lock), and keep accellorating (sp).
