Unhappy Door Locks

The door locks on my new RX-8 don't work! Not sure if they ever worked now. The car responds to the key FOB as though all was well. It just doesn't lock the doors. either with the remote or with the lock buttons. The dealer can not locate the problem. He says he pulled one in off the lot and swapped control modules and that did not fix it and now the one off the lot has the same problem. He said that it appears the memory has been wiped and they were on the phone with the factory engineers to see how to reload the PCM. He thinks disconnecting the battery has something to do with it. It got the "M" flash shortly after we got it. Any ideas?

Disconnecting the battery will not wipe the memory for the key lock. There may be a fault in the module that has blown something, and did the same when the dealer swapped the module to the lot car. I presume you have tried both FOBs?

Door Lock Update

The car has been in the shop since Friday morning. It is now Wednesday. They say they have spent hours on the phone with Mazda engineers and can not find the problem. The service manager told me they have removed every electronic module in the car and are testing them individually. He also says the tech has developed a bald spot on the top of his head! The only good news is they have us a Ti Grey RX-8 as a loaner. They appear to be supportive and are trying to fix the blasted thing. I'll let everyone know what they find if they fix it.

I had the same problem when I drove mine off the lot on a Friday with agreement to return it to the shop on Monday. When I picked it up on Monday afternoon the problem was gone and attributed to a disconnected harness with in the drivers door.
