Doors?

I was wondering what happens when we get a door ding on the rear doors. My friend has a WRX and had to get the hood (Aluminum) replaced becuase a rock on the highway hit it. It looked like a small dent but the bodyshop told him it had to replace the hole thing. SO whats the deal Do any of you guys know if the aluminum doors can be fixed easy if dinged up

Repairing damaged aluminum body panels is far more complex than repairing steel. Many bodyshops so not even have the ability to make such repairs. I'm not surprised that they recommended a replacement rather than a repair.

Take it back to the dealer. Shouldn't be a problem there as opposed to Joe Blow's auto body.

You could try that magic dent removal tool shown on TV (At least in the south eastern US). You hot glue a pad on the car then attach a beam to spread the load to other parts of the panel. Next you use a wing nut to pull the pad up against the beam and it should pop the dent right out. Then you keep turning and it pulls the pad off without a single mark on the car.

I sure this thing has to work. Its one the most amazing things I have ever seen.

Nice thought, but most dealers no longer have their own body shop - it's just too expensive and not worth it in many cases...
