Doors lock when trunk is closed.
You guys ever notice that if you come up to the car, unlock the doors with the remote, pop the trunk with the remote, and close the trunk... the doors lock again. This morning my keys were in my coat which I threw in the trunk....Closed the trunk and I was locked out I was home so I just ran up and got another set...if I had done it at work that would have sucked.....
Note to self: Keep keys in pocket of pants...shouldn't be throwing my pants in the trunk anytime soon

i wish i could lock the car while the trunk is open. often i need to take things out of the trunk and would like to put my keys in my pocket before picking everything up.
i could be wrong but i dont think my car locks automatically when i shut the trunk.

I think it has to do with the fact that if you do not open a door after unlocking with the remote within a certain period of time, the doors relock automatically. I know that if I lock the doors with the trunk open, the lights wont blink until the trunk lid is shut. So you may have associated the relock with the lights blinking as you shut the trunk...guess I should check this out by the old RTFM way.

you dont have to unlock the doors to pop the trunk. but if you do they are on a timer - if you dont open them before time's up the re-lock.
captain mercury just lock the doors then open the trunk with the fob (or the old fashion way with the key in the lock)
doesnt anyone read the manual?

Fortunately, our alarms can be cancelled by the fob. Geez, remember the older style on some cars which required the key in the ignition to cancel the alarm? Hard to be or look smooth tripping and fumbling for the ignition while the car shrieks a debilitating siren at you.

My alarm also goes off if someone pulls on the door-handles. There were two occassions where my alarm seemed to go off for no reason. At first I though perhaps something in my pocket had hit the panic button, but I wasn't really close enough for that to work in either case. One was almost certainly a coworker trying to get a better look or make some mischief, but no one confessed. The 2nd incident was when the car was parked on the street in Watkins Glen - again, either a better look or some mischief. I didn't see anyone from the 2nd story window so I cleared the alarm with the fob and shrugged it off. Then, recently, I set off the alarm by trying to open the drivers door when I'd forgotten it was locked. Imagine my surprise.
I've burned myself with the trunk a couple of times. It's too easy for me to forget to unlock the doors when I first or only want something in or out of the trunk. Should be easy to remember - the salesman who sold me the car popped the trunk first thing so we could look in it before our test drive and set off the alarm. Still cracks me up to think of it.
EDIT: I didn't seriously think you'd maliciously prank them on purpose, but boy did I get a good laugh at imagining their faces the first time they tried it!

there should be a way to turn down the sensitivity a little so that just trying the handle doesnt set it off
one day in my garage- door closed- i neede somethign from the car. the doors were locked but the drivers window was down and my key fob was in the house. i reached thru the window , unlocked the door and opened it
