Drove an rex 8 for the first time

Drove an rx8 at a dealership today was thinking about buying it but when I asked about a rotary specific compression test the salesman looked puzzled. The RX 8 was nice and drove beautifully, pulled great , but without any likelihood of getting a test done I wasn't going to buy it. It was a white 05 standard with 102000 miles on it. Guess I'll keep looking I don't wanna settle.

If it wasn't at a Mazda dealership, chances are they have absolutely no clue about the rotary and RX-8 issues, so what you said about the compression test doesn't surprise me. Hell, most Mazda dealerships don't even know squat about the car.
