DSC causes dramatic power loss?

I've put myself in serious danger twice because of what I believe is the DSC.. There are some roads around here that have fast, continual, crowded traffic. When entering them at 90 degrees you have to find an opening and jump into it, then accelerate like crazy and hope somebody doest slam into you from behind.

Well twice when I've lost some traction in the rear wheels the car suddenly looses all acceleration, the rpm drops to about 1, and I'm sitting there in 60mph traffic going about 3mph foot-to-floor.... I'm close to turning off DSC permanently and never going back, this could kill me..

Have you guys experienced this?

Do you think there's something wrong with my car?

Do you know any ways to turn then accelerate at FT without this happening?

I think DSC is smarter than most of the owners and on public roads should be left on all the time. In your scenario your flooring the gas with no traction. That could lead to a spinout type accident without DSC. The fact that your here to write about it leads one to think DSC saved you.

Don't know if anything's wrong with your DSC, but there may be something wrong with the way you drive—you should never have to "accelerate like crazy and hope somebody doesn't slam into you from behind"! That sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Try waiting for a bigger hole in traffic—even if it means waiting longer—much longer—than you do now.

I know what he means but I've never had to accelerate -that- much. Not sure what you're doing wrong, but usually if I complete the turn then step on it, I dont lose traction at all. I think your error is that you accelerate through the entire turn which should lose traction.

The DSC is my only complaint. While most people would never notice it, when you are pushing the car it is a big hinderence. I personally hate it. As for everyone saying he is driving poorly are you there to witness it. We all know you have to drop the clutch around 3500 to get the car to start quickly. I am not talking a 8K dump here. I understand what the OP is saying. Mine is always off. But I have driven much higher hp cars w/ no DSC.

you are talking about traction control.. different thing... btw, 4500rpm works better..

traction control = straight line
dsc = cornering

I don't have a problem with DSC and my car makes a lot more power than his.

Sounds like a driver issue.

We don't have to be there to know he doesn't belong on the road.

Go do an Auto cross some time. See what happens with the DSC on.

Then tell me its appropiate to drive like that on the highway with lot's of traffic.

With quotes like THIS we do not have to be there.

" I'm 23..I drive recklessly yet skillfully... I never knew what road superiority felt like until I got my 8.."

DSC is something that will be on all cars in a few years, LINK and it should be. DSC saves lives and saves the INS. companies money. There is no way this will not make it to all cars.

Wow, look at all the hate just for me. How sweet... You guys are great!

Let me further explain the times this happened...

1st: I had to pull out onto a feeder road next to interstate 45, at 5:30pm, it's nonstop flow during that time of day.. I wouldn't do anything that would jeopardize my life, and especially my car... But you also cant wait for 10 minutes when there are literally 25 cars behind you thanks to the exiting HOV lane..

2nd: A large pump truck was blocking my lane, had cones around it, and cars were going the opposite direction at a decent rate. I dropped it from about 5k, it started accelerating great, then I lost some traction and it plopped to a crawl...

Despite being a little crazy I actually am a skilled driver. I'm not used to a car suddenly stopping when I'm mashing the gas, it took these events to learn this behavior..

And as for this:

"I drive recklessly yet skillfully... I never knew what road superiority felt like until I got my 8.."

Don't be the internet tough-guy and say that you've never thought the same about yourself and your machine...

Besides.. You guys cant hate like I can. I'm the troll-fu master, don't even try to compete with my glory!

When I've had traction issues, the DSC light flashed for a second, the car did it's thing, and I continued to accelerate. Usually it only goes on due to sliding around corners or heavy acceleration when it thinks something's wrong, but it's always been momentary.
