dumb question

ok here goes, all these problems going on with which oil to use whether its synthetics or oil grade, whatever....

why isnt there a seperate oil reserve that is only to be used for the combustion chambers? you know, just keep it full of whatever oil would best burn and lubricate the engine without leaving alot of deposits

not a dumb ? my guess is epa, and stupid people not keeping it full..

It's a very good question. But as swoope cites, probably some folks wouldn't check a separate reservoir, unless it had its own idiot light, and then you'd have two lights, so ....
