Did you find out why it flooded, and then did you correct the problem? The RX-8 won't flood unless there is a parts failure.

There is a hole under the rear bumper. The license plate light is I n there, but there is a lot more hole. Is this supposed to be there?

Or you can get it at Autozone for a few bucks more.

At the bottom of the front lip, a few feet to the left or right, there are two screw holes that are the perfect distance apart to use this.

If you aren't too affraid of drilling two holes on your bumper, you can do this using the OEM license plate bracket installed upside-down.

I just installed the BHR midpipe on my car, and I've definitely got an exhaust leak. From the sound of it (haven't gotten the car back in the air to have a look), it's where the header meets the midpipe. Presumably, I put the gasket on incorrectly. Can anyone describe or point me to a picture of how its suppose to be? As far as I can tell, I put it in the same way the old gasket was attached to the OEM cat.

The exhaust is only loud/leaking when its cold, so clearly the metal is expanding and closing the leak when it gets up to temp (which, as per my searches, is pretty common). Is this in anyway informative as to where the leak is?

The other thing I read was to try to rotate the assembly slightly, and put some strain on the stock hanger (which is clearly meant to hold up the much heavier cat). Thoughts on if this is applicable to my situation?

Hey poach, if you think the gasket is on right, check to see if the corners of the flanges are bent in, where they could be tightened at the corners but bowed out in the middle.
I have sometimes experienced that, and fixed it by putting nuts on the studs & hammering the corners back.
*Edit* are you sure you are not hearing the "hiss" of the pipe, & not a leak? The BHRs do have a normal hissing sound.

The volume difference between a cold engine start, and then once it warms up is massive. It almost sounds V8-ish when it's cold, and then like a rotary once warmed up. I heard a faint rattling sound under low rpms this morning as well, but I couldn't be sure if it's real or just in my head.

New Dumb Question:

I have OEM 17x7 Mazda6 wheels for my winter set and their roadside edges are sunken in about 18mm more than the OEM 18x8's

They are a +60 offset compared to the stock +55 and they're an inch narrower, so i guess what my question is, should i strive to get the same centerline on the wheels or the same outer rim surface (road side surface) to hub distance.

To get the same centerline I'd only need a 5mm spacer which would be cheap and easy to slip on and take off when i swap wheels.

To get the same outer surface to hub distance I'd need 18mm spacers which from what I've read they can be really sketchy, like I mean the ones with built in studs. Plus they'd be a pain to install and remove by comparison.

I dunno what do you guys think?

I'd think that a matching centerline is best from a suspension geometry/tire wear standpoint...

An interesting idea. I personally wouldn't bother because getting that manual control built into muscle memory is far more valuable, not to mention free.

From a conceptual project perspective though, it would certainly be interesting to design/develop.

Maybe I can convince the UMBC MechE department to fund it as a undergrad capstone project, I'll keep you posted if i decide to do this, with video if it works well enough to be proud of

Thanks. Now you have piqued my intererest. I take it, that is not the way it left the factory. Could someone post a picture of what it should look like? The RX is totally stock, and this is the only thing I have found that indicates anything has been done to it.

Could this have been away to get to the trunk lock? Wondering if someone locked their keys in the trunk and this is how they got to the lock?

I stand corrected, what i ment was it didn't intrupt th air flow through the smily part of the grill. In reality the suggestion above about buying a mount and placing it to the right or left is also incorrect as in reality your was inference is that no plate in front is the only way to have unobstructed air flow at the front end. I think the poster aabove wants to put a plat on the front which is probably state law where he is.

The answer is no plate is the answer but some how that seems dsconnected fron the originbal post i was answering. The air flow my plate restricts or alters iisn't of any real concern especially in view of the fact i don't track my car but thank you for bringing it to our attention here.

So I've noticed that at slower speeds (<30MPH), I feel a slight, rhythmic bumping. It feels like there's something in my tire, or a tire's loose, but it doesn't bump faster the faster I go. Even on a flat road, I can feel it. There is no sound to it.

Nothing comes up with Torque OBDII. I've inspected the outside for anything noticeable, but still nothing. I know this extremely vague, but I got nothing.

Hard to tell from that video - when does the noise occur? Or is it constant, regardless of RPM/load/warm or cold start/etc?
