Reason: Im Bored
Curious about how your manual transmission cars behave in regard to 1st and 2nd gear when not touching the gas pedal. Is it even OK to cruise down a parking lot in 2nd gear like this or should I rather shift down and have a bit of gas applied?
Reason I'm asking is because mine can be quite jerky while moving forward w/o any gas. But well.. I figure it's quite the low torque and low RPM for an engine that thrives on going high, so maybe it's expected behavior?
Thing is it behaved somewhat better after cleaning the MAF. But it resurfaced soon after anyway.
My clutch is stuck to the floor i hear there is a recall . reverse can be impossible to put in gear an takes forever to .
1st can be a bit of a pain to but while driving her shr runs pretty smooth with134k miles
Don't forget to hold the pedal to the metal during the cranking or maybe remove the fuel breaker during the process. Don't forget to put it back in......That's what she said any way.
Hey guys, I recently read on the forum that a dirty ESS can cause misfires. I believe this is what's causing my 8 to misfire around 5k and up. I've replaced all ignition components less than 1000kms ago and it's still there.
My car is currently at the shop and when I get it back I plan on cleaning the ESS which has never been done on it with 145000 Kms to date. what I was searching the forum for and did not find was, exactly what part of it should be cleaned. Just the top of the ess or the entire ess?
Is there a detailed thread outlining this? If so can I get a hint?....... Please?
Hey all, I've tried looking around and getting an idea what the value is on non-op RX8's, but all I've had success in finding are some threads that are a couple years old. I'm also not finding alot of good information by googling, or by seeing comparisons on CL.
So I figured I'd hit up the dumb question section either for an updated answer, or a link to a thread I could read about.
I have a 2005 RX8 with a catastrophic compression issue. It hasn't ran since summer 2013. And I registered it non-op with DMV at next registration. But it's been garaged, and is otherwise in decent shape.
The chassis has approximately 100K on it, has the nice leather interior and Bose stereo system. Paint isn't perfect, but body itself is in pretty good shape.
Oh and location, as that may play a factor - Central Valley CA outside Fresno... about 2.5 hours from San Francisco and Sacramento.
I'm not going to repair it, and I don't have the time to part it out and sell it by the piece. Anyone know what the going value on a non-op is these days?
Ok,jumping into dumb question land...
I have an 04 6 speed (so it has the brake upgrade) and I want smaller rims because I drift at the local track, and 18s are very pricey to burn up. What's the smallest rim I can fit over the brakes? I don't mind going high offset, and possibly spacer route. If you guys have any theories on putting 15s on that would be great because I got a dozen real nice 15s just sitting around with no rims

17 is the smallest with the sport brakes if Im not mistaken.

Dang, the price in tires really leaps from 16 to 17,got any ideas on how to squeak a little more room in there? I could be wrong, but I thought I heard someone say select 16s will fit with stock, but not many. So if I can free up a tiny bit of room and that opens up the 16 market, that would be excellent
You can fit 16 inch wheels on the rear tires. If you have sports suspension, they come with larger front rotors, so the smallest you can go is 17. If you don't have sports suspension, the front rotors are the same size as the rear. So you can fit 16 inch wheels the rear rotors will be the same regardless of sport or non sport. So you can fit 16 inch wheels in the rear.
hi guys. I am new on the forum and want to ask a few question abaut problem i have. an rx8 turned off while i was driving and the check engine light turned on. then when i turned it on it smokes white and the engine has no much power what could be ? a coolat leaking or some thing not that catastrophic?? =) somebody have that problem before ?
thanx everybody for help
Was it overheating? "White smoke" out of the exhaust is steam. Accompanied by a distinctive slightly sweet smell. That's one indicator of a failed coolant seal. Coolant seals fail with time or with overheating. And when they fail it causes yet more overheating. Coolant seals aren't necessarily catastrophic but can be if the engine is further damaged from too much overheating. Regardless, it will require engine removal and disassembly.

That's great,I'll be mis matched at the track, but I can afford to slide!
