It's believed that occasionally redlining helps keep carbon from building up.

Some of us take it to extremes.

Not sure where you read that. I didn't say it. What I did say was "your mileage may vary", and it was a joke.

A Redline a Day Keeps The Mechanic Away.

My opinion and experience is that Mazda Rotary engines must be revved often or they die young. I've not met any experienced rotary enthusiasts who disagree.

Mazda put a few of dumb things in the manual. The reason is lawyers.

You'll probably get a P0402.
I use the Torque app for Android to read and erase.

No, not permanently.
Periodically pops up.
If you need to truly mask it for emissions testing, you'd need a Cobb.

Yeah I was told by the dealership to drive it like you stole it. I do redline the car every once and a while. And rev it to 6-7000 rpms to get all the gears in the engjne active so that they are coated with oil. At lower rpms I was told not all the gears are hit. Any ways i wont be going crazy with redlining cause the manual said that messes with the engine. Idk. playing safe I guess.

Thanks for responding at least you care.

I have a 2004 and i have made the rev limiter bing bing evry time i drive it because it does help the carbon build up which occurs mostly at idle. I don't get carried away and i do warm the engine up before high revs by driving it but not over 3,000rpm until warm. The manual might say one thing and it sounds like your dealer is going against there own manual ?. In my opinion only the 8 loves rpm howeever the stock radiator is questionable at best , you might consider a 2 core all aluminum radiator helps a lot.

My car has spent the better part of 30K miles at or near redline, and its engine is just fine.

Thanks, I will keep this in mind.

Is it necessary to clean the throttle body ever year?

How bad are the attached images I uploaded? They are the bushing/strut area in the front of the car.

My mechanic said they arent so bad but eventually need to be replaced. Pep Boys said its fine after driving it and looking at it. Mavis did the same and wanted me to replace the whole kit.

That's surface rust....so not a huge issue. If you want you can pull the hats and paint them..

Thank you for replaying. I was just nervous about the top piece. I see some tearing there. I notice that when driving its a little bumpy but I believe that's due to the bumps in the road and the car being very low to the ground.

Got to replace the cabin filter and a light bulb for the license plate area tomorrow.
Getting a dash cover for the passenger dashboard cracking.
Gotta get a small bin for the trunk.

^ It looks like there is some tearing of the rubber spring isolator. It isn't a big deal, as long as it is mostly intact between the spring and the top hat, which it looks like it is. In any case, it wont make the car bumpy or clunky under load, until it is in far worse condition than yours is in.

Thank you very much for the reply. I am trying very hard to keep things as best and uptodate as I can without breaking the bank. I mean I just had an engine put in last year like 6 months ago. I dont know why but on slow left hand turns I hear a rubbing once and a while. I also had new tires and an alignment added but that sound was before that. Idk.. The thing that bothers me more than anything is the cracking in the dashboard and the seat-warmers dont work. I mean I did nothing to the seatwarmers and I protect the dash with a cover. Meanwhile Mazda wont replace it. Whatever.

I got some more dumb questions.

Have you guys ever been in your rx8 and the whole dashboard lighting area turned blue? I dont know how someone was driving my car a few years ago and the dash light odometer area turned blue. Not sure why or how to do it again. Turning down the brightness of the dash lights all the way?

How much does it cost to replace the dash on the passenger side $1000-1400?

When does a SSV part go bad?

How often do you clean your throttle body?

Yes the brightness control changes the color. RTFM.

The air bag dash cover is like $300.00, the whole dash is another story.

The SSV part? The SSV doesn't fail often at all.

Cleaning the throttle body is not something that should be done often and you should be careful when doing it, generally a rag will do it. If it's really dirty then you should check for intake leaks or change your air filter more often.

And Google is your friend.

Just played around with it. It goes from super bright to a darker lighter bright but not blue. Idk.

Mazda says the dash comes for the passensger comes with the airbag attachment. $1400 min.

Will 18x8 40 mm offset rims fit on all of the wheels without nipping the fenders?

Can an S2 steering wheel with a Bluetooth/voice dial button fit an S2 that doesn't have Bluetooth? My car only has a mute button. No Bluetooth. Trying to replace the steering wheel.
