162whp. haha wtf!
um. ok. thought they were doin 180 whp normally right? i have an 06 (MT) with 28k with cai and underdrive pullies.....i was hopin for 180whp, and im 20 shy.....what happened? i knew about dsc screwin things so i held it for 7 secs to shut it off completely and it still runs low....anyone else gettin this hp range?

There are far too many variables comparing your dyno numbers to others. First and foremost is the type of dyno, there are three major designs, all of which will lead slightly different numbers. Second is the altitude you are at, lower altitudes yield higher numbers while higher altitudes yield lower numbers. Lastly is the weather, ambient temp and humidity are the most responsible for different horsepower results.
So in conclusion your numbers are most likely good for your car at the time of the dyno runs.

depends on the dyno.
mustang dyno reads the lowest, dynojet is usually in the middle, dynapack usually reads the highest. it all depends on baseline vs whp after mods anyway.
but i'd do a compression test just in case, since it takes 10 minutes to do anyway and is relatively easy.

Along with what SportCoupe2 said, Dyno operators can fudge the altitude setting to bias the results any way they want.
Turbo's are even more sensative to ambient temps.
Ya want a thrill?
Take a turbo for a drive on a cold January morning.
(Air temp = 35F, Altitude = 15ft)

it was about 95 degrees outside.
ive run compression checks on rx8s in the past so ill do one on mine soon, but maybe i can blame the near triple digit heat?
edit it was foruth gear on a dynojet. should i retest in february? ahah!

what kind of dyno? if you are getting 160 on a mustang dyno you can get close to 180 or more on a dynojet. chances are theres nothing wrong with your car, just a result of a conservative dyno reading

Actually there is a 4th dyno. Dyno Dynamics reads lowest of the 4 types. But that is low for a dyno jet. Did you drive it right on without letting it cooldown ? 95 degrees is hella hot. Do they have any correction factors for you ? Usually when they input it into their dyno program, they will have a 2nd estimate that gives you if the weather & humidity is normal what it would have been. Also did they have the fan to blow some air into the engine bay ?

they had a fan, all 3 of my runs were all done within 10 minutes. pratically back to back. it was on a dynojet. i peeked at mode 6 once or twice in its lifetime and both rotors have misfired in the past but since it shows within 10 past driving cycles, the number was like 4 front and 7 rear which i dont think is a lot for 10 drive cycles. the current misfires for current drive cycle were like 1 for R1 and 4 for R2 i think, nothing crazy.....
this week ill run the comp test and check misfires again and see where im at. im leaning towards the 95 degree heat playing a part. the shop has huge doors opened so the temp in the shop was identical to outside air....thus, 95 degrees ish
i had it dynod two weeks ago at anorhter shop on an awd dyno and they ran it in 4wd mode so as not to screw with wheels speed sensors....against my wishes......that time it ran 141whp....THATS when i was confused, awd dyno for 2wd car made no sense to me so i had it reran on a 2wd dyno at another shop. it went up 20 whp but still 20 shy from stock.
kinda surprised me considering how well it runs. it feels more like 190whp on the butt dyno, even the guy runnin the dyno was like wtf, he owns an FC all prepped for drift and hes like bro ur car feels like its got 200 whp, somethin must be up, he thought its the heat...
im not mad or worried or anything i was just wondering if ppl were gettin numbers like that. i was thinkin 180 whp wouldnt be too outrageous of a hope....guess i was wrong.....

hm that is very odd, when i got dyno'd we would let the car sit 10-15 minutes between each session with the fan blowing.
maybe you could ask them what numbers they usually see when rx-8's dyno at their shop. could give a good indication on whether or not its a low reading dyno.
but ya i'd wait a couple months till winter to see whats up

+1 on compression test
If at high RPM your dyno curve looks really shakey it's probably the leading coil packs.
Dynoing in heat is no good. That is most deffinately a cause of low power.
Try the run again in 5th gear next time too

thats so crazy that u say that bc after about 7k the dyno goes from smooth lines to all weird like a lie detector test...u kno how they look all wavy and rugged edges and stuff......that could be failing coil packs at high rpm?
weaksauce!

I think the OP's car is probably functioning properly.
After all, 30% drivetrain loss is normal.
Or perhaps the original poster is just an idiot, woman, or old person, because those are the only people who have problems with their engines.

i got my car dynoed to
I was pushing 180 to the wheels at 6K rpm after that the machine lost rpm signal lol IDK haha I still beat GSR hatches I hate those thigns they are crap. I hang with Mustang Gt's I have no idea how but i do lol
I have MSP CAI, Power pulley, and GReddy exhaust. next upgrade STRONGER CLUTCH AND LIGHTER FLYWHEEL
stock clutch crap
