E-Brake as a handle.

I just wanted to point this out and YES I'm too lazy to search topicsso you can't flame me if there is already one like this because I just Flamed myself, onto the topic:

Has anyone else, when driving passagers around showing off the car, had their passenger grab the E-Brake as if it's a "Oh-****!" handle? I find that almost every person I drive wants to grab onto the E-Brake handle as if it's their job! I have to tell them ,let the seat belt do it's job and keep your hands off the E-Brake. That's all I want when I'm flying around a corner is for my passenger to pull up on the E-brake.

...Maybe it's just my driving...lol

I almost always have my hand on the e-brake. I've been driving one handed for most of my life, and know that you should never rest your hand on the shifter, so that leaves the e-brake as the most handy place. 21k miles and I have never even come close to accidently pulling, even under very hard cornering.

I tend to hold the E-brake handle most of the time when I'm driving by myself. Probably not so much with someone in the car with me though. Most people tend to hold on to the real "Oh-****" handle rather than the E-brake though.

Because it would be pretty awkward, unless you have really short arms..
I just tell people to not touch it and both my hands are at 9 at 3 unless I'm shifting.
Emergency manuevers are called that for a reason..

I find that my passengers always want to disengage the e-brake for me. I hate that! It's my car, get yo hand off my e-brake!

its a drivers car first.. if it were on the drivers side it would be poking 1, my knee and to my arm as i move from wheel to shifter. It truly is in the best place.. As for the JDM cars.. well that would sux to drive on the right side and have it over there.. it would totally be in the way..

they could have put it in the middel like most cars.. but then you would loose your storage and drink holders..

if it were me i would have built it into the drink holder spot and ditched the 150 deg cup holders ! :o

On the RHD cars it is on the drivers side. Doesnt seem to get in the way to me.

Left side of right side doesn't matter (Driver wise). My Rx-7 has it on the left side and I find no difference in ease of use.

But if you passenger is grabbing onto it then it's time to rethink your passengers.. :D
