Thumbs up East Coast Ship and Schedule

Okay, let's get the information rolling for the other coast!

Just got off the phone with my dealer in Virginia and his GM told him that some RX-8s have arrived at the Port in Jersey City, NJ. I have no independant confirmation of this. And he could not tell me if my car is there or not. He "expects" my status to change to 'PORT' on Monday's report.

Although I want to believe, it might be the GM is mistaken and it is only Port Hueneme, CA that has received RX-8s today.

BUT, let's only think thoughts! Now we need some ground level reconnoitering by some of our memebers near the port. The ship should have docked at the Northeast Auto Marine Terminal (NEAT). Here is a map of the dock area and address. I have been unable to identify the ship name but am reasonably sure this is the correct dock. I originally thought it would be the 'Ford' dock at Port Elizabeth but I think that is for exporting. I admit I could be wrong and am ready and willing to listen to facts! (Better yet, PICTURES!)

Good Hunting! :D

Oh, and not to forget our friends in the Southeast whose cars will arrvive at Port Jacksonville... Keep an eye out down there. The ship should dock either at Blount Island or Talleyrand .

I have seen dates for two ship departures in Japan, but someone posted there is supposed to be a third ship (possibly before the two May 30 and 31). If there are three, it may be one of them will go to Jersery and one to Jacksonville. Or if there is only one Eastbound ship at the moment, it would most likely stop in Jacksonville first.

I have been looking at the shipping schedule for Jacksonville. I thought 'K-Line" was NYK but none of the vessel names show in their RORO registry. It is possible that NYK is not the shipping line going to the east coast, though.

Hope this information helps those ground troops near Jacksonville!:D

I think someone said it takes about 20 days from Jap to Jax. If so that would put the boat in by the end of this week. I guess we'll start seeing cars with two weeks of thier arrival at ports.

It still makes sense that their would only be one East Coast ship and that it would stop in Jacksonville first since the ship would have to pass J'ville on its way to New Jersey.

I read on nykline.com that the average trip time for a ship from Japan to J'ville is anywhere from 19 to 25 days. I would say it is possible that they have arrived, OR they are darn close. I assume the East Coast ship was the first to leave Japan. Didn't someone say earlier that two ships left initially and that one left a few days before the other. It would only make sense to have them rolled out in close time to each other all accross the States if possible.

My Dealer is in Mass and my port is Jersey. Does anyone know how long cars usually stay in port once arrived?. Someone made a good point about how the information on VIN staus has a lag time, and the cars may be "in port" for days before the VIN status is updated. The cars may be on trucks before they show "in port".
Also, do the dealers get an idea or exact date on the arrival of the car transporters? I would like to know this because I have a feeling my car will sit a few days on the lot before they decide to call me. I know....I sound unreasonable but my dealer has been very evasive and a terrible source of info for my car......for example ...they told me my car will be there in April..........April? They obviously were never told that by Mazda, They were just making stuff up to sell cars...........I would never put it past them to "forget" to call me for a few days while my car sees 37 asses in the seat.
Just trying to stay one step ahead........and this forum is the ONLY way Ive done it

Geez Gyro, I didn't need to think about all those asses sittin' in my car. LOL. Thanks.

Man, has my dealer been a pain, tryin' to shackle me with some laminate looking "road guard" that has a seam visible from 30 feet away. Sheez, they wanted to charge me 6 Bills and I had to sic Mazda on them to not force it on MY car. Now the jerks are piling on $300 for dealer prep, above the un-negotiable MSRP. Aaarrrgghh.

3rd week of July is the date they gave me tonite for delivery. I'm in Jax, so I should be right up near the front of the line. I'll keep the other East Coasters notified. 4 weeks to go 'til my new sweetie gets here.

FYI, interesting reading on US shipments - particularily that eastern cars are getting shipped to the east coast. First batch of Canadian RX-8s landed on June 17th on the west coast and most/all are getting railed to the east coat. Delivery is being expected possibly for the first week of July.

Now this comment is only done with only ~15 minutes of research on the Jaxport and NJ port authority websites. I offer it to anyone who wishes to fine out more details or verify this information.

According to the Jaxport website (www.jaxport.com ) it list the schedual of arriving ships. Out of all the ships arriving at between 6/17 and 6/21, there are only two lines that are service by the New Jersy Port ( www.panynj.gov ). These are Hyundai, and Wallenius-Wilhemsen( www.wlna.com ). According to the NJ site, Wallenius-Wihemsen are the agent for NYK Line ( the west cost boat ).

There are only two Wallenius-Wihemsen ships listed arriving in Jaxport ( Commodore, and Tamp ). According to the Wallenius-Wihemsen site, the Commodore does not go to NJ, but the Tampa does, so here is Tampas schedual:

..........................Arrival: Departure:
......Jacksonville, FL....06/18.....06/18
......Savannah, GA........06/19.....06/20
......Norfolk, VA.........06/21.....06/22
......Baltimore, MD.......06/23.....06/23
......New York, NY........06/25.....06/26

According to Jaxport the Tampa arrived on 06/17.

Remember, this is just some research. I do not know that the RX-8's are on this ship!!!! It would be nice to see this verified or disproven.
