Electric steering
I was on the highway and the steering wheel jerked my rx8 of the road. I no longer have power steering. With the rx8's, there's no fluids involved. I've taken the car to shops and they all say that they don't know how to fix it. Any ideas on how to fix it and the cost?

if its electric, you can bet you but there's a fuse for it. I'm not familiar with the electric steering on the 8 but I would start by checking the fuse box (refer to user manual to find wich fuse it is).

search plz.
this has been covered a hundred times. do an advanced search, type in power stearing, ask it to search thread titles only.
scroll until you see a thread by Mazdamaniac.
Also, a little more info would be good next time you start a thread. Year of car, mileage, etc.
Otherwise people will tell you to go to the dealership and you could be out of warranty which will definitely cost you a pretty penny. I assume yours is an 04 based on your user name?

remove your airbox tray to inspect the PS sockets right under the coolant reservoir overflow tube.
if they are corroded due to overflown coolant, you need to either solder them or replace with new sockets.

The frothy stuff on your dipstick is likely just condensation due to the cold. Dude, there is a little button at the top that says "search" and it will tell you everything you need to know. It can pretty much answer any question you have.

Depending in the dealer.. If he just goes in and asks for a ballpark estimate without them inspecting the car at all then yea free. If they have to inspect to see what needs to be fixed, not free.
My 09 is still under bumper 2 bumper warranty and I cant even get a free inspection at my dealership... Gotta sign a form saying you agree to pay $150 in case the problem your having isnt under warranty(wear & tear items, or whatever). Always pissed me off, you would think an inspection would be free especially on something under warranty. I know chances are it will end up being free if somethings broken but meh.

then you just remove the airbox tray, its just down there. above the radiator.
