Engine Covers

K i'm a noob and just got this car yesterday and i love it. But is it ok for me to remove the engine covers and drive without them? Also i feel like my far right ac vent and my far left ac vent doesnt blow as much air out as the 2 middle ones. but that really doesnt matter because i never turn it on. I just really wanna know if its better with the engine covers on or off cuz i figured it'd get real hot. Sry for the noob questions

Engine covers are supposed to help in keeping the engine components cooler. Mazda wants you to leave them on.

Mine has been off ond on my garage wall since I got it. It helps keep engine noise down but I don't think it keeps anything cooler.

This is a good question now that summer is here. Can anyone do a real test with and without? If they are just for looks, I can live without it for a cooler engine.

Thanks

On or off, be sure not to lose it... it's very expensive.

what if a belt came off? I think it would protect the hood from getting damage.

its is there to direct air flow over the engien.

your car will be fine with out it but i am sure they put it there after a wind tunnel test.
CAr makers dont like to wast money. so there enginers think its doing somthing to the air flow .. Buy a Carbon Fiber one from IPT here in the vendors fourm !!

prolly cuz hot air rises & the cover keeps the hot air around the engine vs. it just being soaked up by the aluminum hood??? not sure though.

Mines off cuz the stereo shop is doing work on my car & I hate having to take it off, put it back on, take it off, put it back on, ad infinitum until they're done (Fri. 6/25).
