Engine/ECU Failure?
Hello There,
Facing a few major problems in the car. Would apprciate your help greatly!!
Problems & Indications:
- CEL Light: P0103 - MAF High input (12 volts instead of the prescribed 5v)
- Tried out another 8's MAF. Car went smooth for a few minutes and then the same 'bogged down' phase kicked in. CEL came on again.
- Takes an extremely long ignition turn for startup. Sometimes, 2-3 attempts.
- Compression test indicated figures of 5 bar and 4 bar.
- Battery water is boiling up.
- Just checked the spark plugs. One of them came out with a hair line crack.
The 8 has 35,000 kms on it.
Need urgent guidance!!!
Engine problem? ECU?
Thanks a bunch!!

If the compression tests should 5 and 4, your engine is done. That is less then 70psi per housing...guessing you lost a seal (not apex) or two, assuming that you got 3 puffs of 5 and 4 per rotor.
Assuming the CEL is limp mode, as your engine is cooked.
2-3 tries to start is because your car is flooded. With low compression comes flooding, its only the natural way of the rotary.
Battery water is boiling? Probably a bad battery, or from extended periods of cranking. Never crank for more then 8-10 seconds per minute.
Spark plugs cracked...? Err, I suppose its possible that when it let off the seal (maybe it COULD have been an apex, now..) that in its high-speed flying around the chamber hit the spark plug, too.
8 other MAF's, it would take a minute or two for the ECU to realize you were trying to trick it, and then it would continue in limp mode.
Sorry dude, your engine is TOAST. Reset the ECU, replace the battery, and then re-do the compression test. If the battery is weak, it could turn out very low numbers..but..probably not this low...
