Engine flood symptoms - but car was warmed up
I seem to have trouble starting my car every once in a while, as if the engine is flooded. It’s not due to shutting down the car before it’s warmed up because I always make sure the temp gauge is at the mid point (5-10 min drive). When I have problems starting, I do the procedure that is listed in the owner’s manual:
Crank 10 seconds. Wait. Crank 10 seconds with gas pedal to the floor. Wait.
I repeat this procedure until it eventually starts. I’ve had to crank it up to 5 times before.
I’ve had this problem 3 times in the past 3 weeks. Coincidentally, all 3 times it acted up was when I did the following:
Start up car in the morning and drive to work (15 min drive). A few hours later, start up car and drive for 15 minutes then shut off...the car has warmed up at this point. When I try to start the car 5 minutes later, it seems like it’s flooded.
Anyone else experience this problem, even when the engine is fully warmed up? All recalls have been done on the vehicle.
Thanks.

I have also experienced this every once in a while, although not as bad as you. For me, when the car is already warm I crank for like 3 seconds, stop, then crank another couple seconds then it starts up. I think I remember reading on here somewhere it may be do with not getting enough compression because the oil is too thin when hot, not creating a good seal? But your case seems pretty bad if you have to crank that much, I would get that checked out.
