I guess it's my turn boys.....engine light just came on....tranny has been a pain in the ***.....cant wait till this lease is up..... 1 more year to go......2006 6mt has 3500 only. This is the worst car i have ever had. Was to be a track car but def not worth it...tranny misses 2nd alot hits some kind of metal every time i go to 3rd. you have the same problem with rev gear im sure..... no other car in my life does rev gear not go in smooth. There is not one part of this car that does not rattle. And again this car only has 3500 in a year and still has all these probs i dont know how anyone can drive it all year round. I can say alot more but not worth it. I hope you guys have more luck with your ride...it is a nice car but just not built right.

And your dealer says?
With only 3500 on it either you don't maintain the car or you abuse it.
If not then go bitch at the dealer 'cus it's still fully covered.

going to bring it in tues....has oil changes 2 times all the flashes and i am still breaking it in so no abuse at all...does go to 9k alot but thats nothing for this car. Just very badly built. my dealer does not sell them anymore because of how many they have to service. I am sure they will fix it for free i am not worry about that money is not a problem its just the pain in the *** it has been with so little miles.

Have you thought about a different dealer? Sounds like the dealer is causing the issues, not solving them. Most dealers don't have an abnormal number of issues with RX8s.

thats unfortunate , I just hit 8000 miles today, after just less than a year, and still going strong. engine light has only come on once, because I did something to the car. The only thing I can really complain about at the moment is my cd changer that cuts out when going over bumps (need to go to dealer for that, its anooying as hell), and of course the dreaful gas mileage. o well, I guess its the price you have to pay when you get to hear/feel 9000 rmps.

funny, after 19k miles mine runs the same as the day i bought it... though the CEL came on a couple days ago, took it to the dealer, code was catalyst inefficiency

car had been running a while and fully warmed so he redlined it, and the CEL was gone

he told me i needed to drive it harder cause the cat wasn't heating up correctly or something along those lines... i only really heard drive harder, seriously, best... CEL... ever.

I somehow lucked out I guess... over 50k miles and still on the same engine/tranny.

Yes i talked to 3 different places about the CD player there is no fix, it just sux....not enough cushion for bumps and such..... i don't put any Cd's in there anymore cause they they get all scratched......um the tranny has nothing to do with my driving you put the gear in second its all the way in and nothing it just spins like its in neutral no gear grinning or anything just not there....3rd there is a rod of metal in the way that it hits every time it goes in.....reverse gear i am sure u all have problems cause i test drove 4 other cars cause i didn't think it was normal.....none of my other car's have that problem......like i said this car just has to many little things that are a pain in the ***...its a great car just not built right. If the tranny was built the right way (not just to fit in there), the engine was made in a better way to breath more with a few more ponies...every little part of the car didn't shake....i mean every part.... The CD player worked...... this would be a very good car. I love how it handles but unfortunately that's all i love about it......even the leather i had to change out to real leather........

I am very hard on my car, shifting at or around 9k a few times a day and have no issues. The engine runs strong as it should at only 42000 miles on the car. As for rattles, the sun roof can rattle a bit but nothing worse then other sports cars I have been in. The only CEL I got was when I didn't seal my gas cap. I would go to another dealer and get a second opinion.

Update: Tranny is just like that drive it till it breaks we will put in a new one under warranty. Engine light is for new recalls...don't know why i had some done about 2 months ago but they told me new ones just out. Rattles its cheap plastic with stiff suspension everything is gonna rattle other then glue it nothing they can do about it. CD player they can put in a new one but it will act the same way. The marbles in the can after 7 rpms they couldnt get it to do it...funny i hear it on the way home.....i just dont even care anymore next oil change i will take them for a ride so they can hear it. while i was there 2 other rx8 owners where bitching about how shitty there car is ....all in alll cant wait to give this thing back

What new recalls is the Dealer talking about? There are no new TSB's or recalls especially for an 06'. I'm sorry but something doesn't add up.

I think it has to do with ur shifting skills more than the tranny itself.

I have all 6 cds in my Cd player, I go over bumps alot, and damn all my cds still good as new, no scratches whatsoever !

2 other rx8 owners were bitching because they dont know how to take care of the car. There was a time I was at the dealership some dude got an blue AT 8 and was waiting at the dealership because his A/C *doesnt work for some reason*

I asked him do you even know your car at all ? he doesnt even know what is rotary engine. and of course when I told him about the Racing Beat Screens for his A/C condenser and Oil cooler, he looked at me like Im crazy or something.

These people are the people that *dont know **** about their cars, and start bitching this and that.*

Hell my friend's family didnt even change the oil in his Sienna for 20 somethin K miles. CEL was on, the car has no power at all, and they wonder why. HuH ?

I have been driving stick for over 11 years dont tell me i dont know how to drive stick if anything my older cars should be harder to drive then this thing...the dealer agree that the gears are banged up they will replace it when it cooks...i have the single cd player maybe its diffrent then the 6....the marbles in the glove comp dealer said its normal about 5 out of 10 cars get it......when u guys can affored better cars and have something else to compare to u will see just how bad this car is built...looks good and handles good but thats all it has going for it....wish all luck but dont bitch at me that i dont know how to drive .....
something to do with the gas tank or something...not to sure didnt even care every month a new recall comes out on this thing

dude, maybe you're just having a bad experience with your individual car. frankly, a lot of other owners here have had little to no problem with this vehicle. i've just hit 24,000 miles on my '05 and have not flooded it, not had a CEL, and not had to bring it in for anything other than a blown speaker that the previous owner did. ill give you the benefit of the doubt that your car just happens to have some gremlins, but considering your presentation i'm inclined to think you're something of an idiot as well.

oh, and the comment on being able to afford better cars to have something to compare it to: Die in a Fire, man. My brother has an '02 6-speed M3 that I was lucky enough to put a few hundred miles on in a long trip, and while in some respects I like it better than my 8, the motor for instance, I would take my car over his. A friend of mine has a 996 911 TT S, and I feel similarly about that car too. Maybe you're just driving the wrong sports coupe. And yeah, don't let the door hit you on the way out...
