Engine problem...

Hello, I am new here and I have some questions. I have a 2004 RX-8 AT (~33000km) and as of now I didn't have any problem. I do, however, baby this car most of the time because of the traffic here

So I came back from my trip (2-3 days) and I took my car for a ride. After 10 minutes of regular driving, I took this car to the highway and rev the crap out of it for around 10 minutes. I was even reving the engine on N. The power was fine then but when I went back to normal driving, I starting losing a lot of power. When I press on the gas, the gear immediately goes to 2 and then 3-4, but when I press the gas a little more the gear goes down to 2 causing this car to jump.

The engine even shut down a couple of times when I'm idling while waiting for the light. The power is probably half of what it was before.

So the question is: Is the engine upset because I didn't wait long enough to warm up? I just got my oil changed 3 weeks ago and always use Synteclic (Sp?).

PS: The power loss happend a few times before but it was all good the next day. Maybe it needs to be rested?

Thanks for any advice!
