Engine Rebuild?
Hey all,
I was tooling around on another forum and they were talking about RX-8 engine rebuild after 70k miles. Yeah OK, have any of you heard of this or have any creditable web links proving this statement?
Thanks
Jeremy

you could rebuild your engin when ever you like, but breaking down and need a new engin is a different thing. My 87 NA RX7 got 170K, It lost some HP but it still run so why rebuild just drive till it drop.

Well, I have a 100k warranty on my car, I only plan to keep it till it hits 100k. If the warranty dose not cover things like seals or what not, I will **** a brick.....
I'm at 43k right now. (She should be paid off by the time i hit 100k, lol)

don't get me wrong. the FD was/is an incredible machine, it had some relibilty issues (mainly because of the actions of idiot tuners). but even outside the idiot tuners, it had some issues caused by its less than adequate cooling. but it was mainly the fault of improper tuning.

hey all, spoke to the dealer yesterday when I dropped my car off to get worked on. They said they don't see why it wont last 150-200k miles. I hope so!
Take a look at this link: New Engine Flash?

Hi,
I am new to the site. I currently have a 1994 RX7 so I am not new to rotaries but I am looking at buying an RX8 for my wife and I have a couple questions. I came across a 2004 RX8 that already has approx 100,000 miles on it. Obviously mostly highway. I was wondering if anyone knows what type of longevity these engines might have and if something were to take a dump what is an engine rebuild gonna cost. Normally I wouldn't even bother but the car is such a great deal and loaded. Thanks for the help.

hell i just hit 40 k miles ( in 1 year.. ) and i think the car is finally just getting broken in... it seriously took this long until is so SMOOTH. the first 20k miles it was bitchy and rough compared to what it is now. @ 15k+ power began increasing a bit and now it feels incredible. it's a drastic diffrence from what it was. i really like this car.
