Engine rod? Is he referring to the hood prop? Maybe? Rotary engines don't have rods.

You might as well have the pistons replaced too.

the only "rod" in a rotary engine is the e-shaft... and if you need that replaced you may as well replace the whole thing...

rods... lol

I've got new cams to put in mine, but I'm waiting for Mazda to issue and updated timing belt tensioner first.

Yeah, but you are not really taking advantage of those mods without the high-lift cams.
If Mazda doesn't do the revision on the tensioners, I'll probably see about getting a gear drive made to replace the timing belt.
I'm not sure how I'll drive the mechanical fuel pump that way, so I might need to get one of those fancy electrical fuel pumps, but those are always a pain because you have to get the pressure just right to keep from flooding the carb bowls and spilling fuel everywhere.
Its just an endless mod list for these motors.
Next it'll be a lightened reciprocating assembly with shot-peened rods and clevite main bearings on the crank.

hey,

great idea. get rid of the fuel pump,, get one of those fancy electric thingys.. then i can put one of those racin cable driven oil pumps where the fuel pump was...

i hope rr does not find out about this.. he might try to corner the market..

I'm sure he's been doing mods like this for year on thousands of customer's cars.
None of this would be news to him.
He was one of the first folks in Tennessee to bore and stroke a 13b-REW.
Punched it .030 over and ran the longer rods from a 20b.

Nah. That just opens a whole new can of worms.
Once you do that, you have to worry about all kinds of piston-particular issues like eccentric shafts and apex seals.
